Great key, nice little size, solid feel, and here are the dimensions.
I got this key to replace a long one that just stuck out too far. This is a perfect size, since my valve is just inside the wall. The bronze goes with the fire pit block color, although the chrome versions would look good too. It's made of metal, and very sturdy.Reviews and questions on other keys asked about dimensions, so here are some photos with rulers and notes. The key is 3 inches from the tip to before the handle. The handle is 1 inch, so the full length is 4 inches. (The camera angle makes it look a little longer than 4").But, the important distances are from where the valve stem lands inside the key tip, to the handle. This is the farthest it will reach and still work. That is, if your valve is 3" inside the wall, this will just touch it, but won't grab it. So it's more like 2-1/2" to 2-3/4" maximum reach.I have a 1/4" valve, so this key works great. It has a solid feel, gets onto the valve the full 1/2" depth, and feels correct turning it on and off.The 5/16" valve is a little bit dicier. The depth is only 3/16", so you'll definitely need to reach the valve and get the key on it as much as possible. Even then, that's not a lot to grip, so it may tend to roll off.For 1/4" valves, I played some games with my socket set:One person had a valve where the key didn't quite reach it, so it would roll instead of gripping. You could add a 1/4" drive socket extension to it, and make it as long as you need. This works well, but the key won't "hold" the extension like a socket wrench, so it can pull off. The little 1" extension is cute, but if it's inside, it could get left in there when the key is pulled out. For me, the 2" extension stuck out of the wall a little, so I could grab it if the key came off it.Finally, before the key arrived, I had made my own out of a few socket parts. A metric 18 mm socket did well as a handle grip, and I probably never used it for anything else. Add a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter, the 2" extension, and I had a great little key! Granted, it had a low WAF, so we bought this official one.(Edit: I edited a couple words, and added a zoomed image of the dimensions.)

Durable Gas Key! Perfect fit
I recently bought a house with a gas fireplace. The previous sellers were nice enough to allow me to buy my own gas key (they did not give me their gas key so I had to buy one haha). After looking at multiple options on Amazon (yes I even look through reviews on a simple item such as a gas key), I decided to give this one a try. The gas shutoff for the fireplace is located in the floor next to it so I was unsure what length to get, opting to go for a longer one to be safe. This product was perfect. High quality and durable. I had no issue using this to turn on the gas after closing on the house. Worked great again to shut off the gas for the summer.Overall, this is a high quality and durable product made with strong materials. If you need a gas key, this is a great choice and will get your job done over and over again without any issues.Note: I paid for this and believe it is worth the price. No one asked me to do this review.

The best gas valve key in the world!
Even if you don't need a gas valve key, you should buy this! In my case I happened to need it for my outdoor fire pit because the one I had was rusted and old. The 8-in length is great for valves that are recessed further back than normal (not actually sure why they do that). Probably someone sucked at measuring. I sleep with this key under my pillow and I feel very safe. This is so much more than just a gas valve fireplace key. Get yours today!

Works great with Heatilator brand
This fits and works great with our Heatilator brand gas fireplace. Because of the dual sizing the key is bored out two diameters inside, small and large. This enables the use of two different sizes in one key. This in no way takes away from the function of the key but actually enables the consumer to buy with confidence knowing it will fit whatever size they have without measuring, that's what I did!

Finally Have a Gas Key That Fits
The builder left a 3 inch key for a gas fireplace in our formal living room, a room that is rarely used. Because of a delayed painting issue in our family room where we normally put our holiday decorations, we decided to put the tree in the formal room. Lighting the fire might be nice, we thought. The key that has been sitting on the mantle for 14 years is way too short to turn on the gas. Amazon to the rescue! This key is great, sturdy, easy to use, and large enough that we probably won't lose it.

Sturdy but floppy.
This gas key fits the valve stem and operates it, but it doesn't fit very tightly at all. My other gas keys are a much better fit. This might be a consequence of the "universal design" which aims to fit both 1/4" and 5/16" valves. You may want to avoid the floppy fit by buying a valve key that's sized exactly for your valve.

worked for Acetylene tank
I have a Acetylene tank that is about 30 inches high with and 5" rim around the top of the tank protecting the valve. My son lost the key. I tried multiple welding supply shops and online to find a replacement. One supply shop told me that these types of tanks are used a lot by the railroads. I spent 9 months searching for a key, and this was a great replacement

Great!
My second one of these. The first which was a different brand broke after 4 times! This one is reinforced right below the turn handle, have used it many times and it’s holding up great plus it was half the price of the first one!
