Aaron Becker is an American illustrator and author of children's books. He is best known for his picture book trilogy Journey, which has been translated into more than 20 languages and won numerous awards. Becker's books are noted for their use of wordless storytelling and beautiful illustrations. His work has been compared to that of Maurice Sendak and Chris Van Allsburg. Becker was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Ohio. He received a BFA in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. After graduation, he worked as a designer and illustrator for a variety of clients, including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. In 2009, he published his first book, Journey. Journey tells the story of a young girl who finds a magic door in a tree and enters a fantastical world. The trilogy continues with The Purple Balloon (2012) and Quest (2014). Becker has also published a number of other picture books, including The Watcher (2011) and Sam and Dave Dig a Hole (2015). Becker's books have been praised by critics and have won numerous awards, including the Caldecott Medal, the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, and the Parents' Choice Award. His work has been translated into more than 20 languages and his books have sold millions of copies worldwide.
