Q: How is the plant doing now you've had it a while ?

My two arrived in September 2017, when it was starting to get cold. It is now March 2018. They haven’t grown at all, but have only lost a few leaves, and they were in part of the plant where they were pretty shaded from outside light by other leaves. The conditions they live in: I repotted shortly after they arrived in similar-sized pots to the ones they arrived in. I watered them about 300mL each once a week. I kept them in a room with a large east-facing window, but they weren’t close to the window due to the draftiness in the winter. There is also a skylight in the room, but they only have enough sunlight on them to cast a sharp shadow for 2-3hrs a day.

Q: How do I give it light?

It's indirect lighting, meaning if it can't be outdoors on the direct sunlight because the leaves will become parched. You can leave by a window. I keep mine in the brightest room next to the window and it's doing fine (must confess - the hirsh nursery fiddle leaf fig (very small) went through some major maintenance issues. It is still alive but that's after many hours of self educating and contacting nurseries. After this small one survived 5 months with me, I was bold and bought the "very" expensive one that was 6 feet tall. So far, that one is acclimating in it's new NYC apt. If you do not have good lighting in your home, don't bother buying this plant. I killed 3 already in the past 2 1/2 years due to lighting conditions. I have a new home with better lighting conditions and now have a thriving jungle.

Q: Why is this not shipping to Ohio? Says it cannot be shipped here.

Hello! We have restricted states that are experiencing cold weather issues. This is because most tropical plants will not do well during shipping when temperatures drop below 40-50 degrees and may be delivered with frost damage. Q: what size pot does it come in and what size would you recommend repotting it in?

Hi Haley, The Fiddle Leaf fig comes in a growers pot measuring approximately 8.75 inches in diameter. We recommend using a 12 inch diameter container that has a drainage hole when repotting. Allow for an adjustment period once your plant arrives, repotting the plant immediately after arrival can cause additional stress to the plant.
