Just as described. GREAT sleeping bag
Quality Sleeping bag! I don't think I'll ever have to buy another like this again. Warm and sturdy. This was purchased for my teenage son. We live in Florida.I know *nothing* about sleeping bags, I just knew I wanted something quality, which is what we got with this bag.A+++ Sleeping bag. With that said, it is rather large and heavy. The description DOES say this. Again, I don't know anything about sleeping bags.As you can see from my picture, THAT is the size of the sleeping bag. PERFECT for men/ women in cold weather.I will need to purchase a different bag for summer time and for when we do hike-camping.This would be too heavy to hike with.I'm very happy with this purchase. It'll be great for when we go to Georgia in the fall/ winter.Soft inside, durable outside. Easy to zip and unzip. Warm. Very east to roll up. Checks all the boxes for a sleeping bag in the winter.

Excellent cold weather bag which truly lives up to its billing
My family and I go camping about four times a year and I freeze my butt off if the temperature drops below about 45 F. In the past I have tried several different bags promising to keep you warm at 20 F or 0 F only to find I am still shivering at 40 deg F. And when my sleep is miserable then so is my trip. Decided to give this Teton Sports DeerHunter model a try because I like rectangular bags (especially the rare ones that have drawstring curved hoods) and this bag has a survival rating of -35 F. The bag is also not crazy expensive like many expedition rated mummy bags that advertise terrific warmth at very low temperatures but weigh only five pounds and cost $300 plus. Amazon delivered the DeerHunter to me a week later and I unfolded it from the supplied carrying bag. My first impression was that it was thick. Very thick. And it weighs about 16 pounds (7.3 Kg), so definitely more of a bag for car camping or longer term hunting trips than for the expedition style camper. The bag also has heavy duty zippers and inner and outer pockets to hold cell phones, wallets, etc.. A great mummy style hood with drawstrings that can be pulled up tight around the head. This bag is hand wash only (and Teton recommends watching the video on their website first if you plan to hand wash it) which at first seems like a deal killer but the reason is that any washing machine will compress the synthetic insulation too much, causing the bag to lose a bit of its heat retaining characteristics. The same is true of storing the bag too tightly compressed for many months. Crazy as it may sound, upon receiving the DeerHunter, I took it to my friend's cousin who owns a meat packing shop with large walk in style freezers. I asked him if I could try the bag in the freezer overnight. He said something in Italian about me being crazy but made sure the door could be opened from the inside and set up the temperature control to begin at 0 F and then move slowly down to -20 F over the next five hours. (we could not set the temperature to -35 F which is the survival rating of this bag - the freezer only went to -20 F) I made sure I had adequate oxygen in the room and then set up my cot at 11 PM and went to sleep. (When I camp, I use a cot about 8 inches off the ground, a closed cell foam sleeping pad and then my bag on top of that) At 0 F, this bag worked excellent and I was still warm enough with my long underwear, blue jeans, flannel shirt and jacket on. By the time the temp got down to -20 F, I felt pretty chilled (not enough to be truly miserable but enough to affect sleeping). I slipped on my two extra layers of fleece I had in the bag beside my body and went back to sleep. It was not great sleep, but I did get back to sleep (the air was so cold that I did notice it at my throat but I still went back to sleep). I don't know how well this bag would work on frozen soil without a cot or sleeping pad, but for my style of camping, I was pretty impressed that it allowed sleep at -20 F. In short, this bag probably does live up to its claims which is that if you are warmly dressed in multiple layers, you can survive the night at around -30 to -40 deg F. It is well built and includes a nice carrying bag with handles. For the $135 I paid for it, excellent bag and highly recommend. Five stars.

Warmest sleeping bag I've ever had
Warm, comfy, all-around a pleasure. It's huge, though. You won't be backpacking with this thing. It takes up half of the trunk of a Honda Civic, but it's worth it. The carrying bag is sturdy and it's not a struggle to get the sleeping bag back inside. Good zippers. You could easily sleep two inside one of these if needed.

Cold won't touch you!
A great thick, warm, and comfortable sleeping bag for those cold camping nights. The sleeping bag quality is top tier as well as the carry bag. A bit on the heavy side but that is to be expected at this low price point. Overall highly recommend

Excellent Cold Weather Bag (with a few minor caveats)
OVERALL IMPRESSIONWell-constructed bag - highly durable canvas outer shell and comfortable lining (that can be removed for washing). I tested this bag down to 0 on a winter camping trip - I actually had the bag 3/4 unzipped and I was still warm. It's a heavy bag - so, really only useful for car camping. I'm 6'0" / 235 lbs and I toss a lot when I sleep, so I was a little concerned whether 39" would be wide enough. So, I've only used it unzipped (in zero degree weather) and it was generally quite comfortable and warm (see below).SOME SPECIFICSShell - durable canvas, but everything is single-stitched and I'm wondering how that will hold up over the long term.Lining - very comfortable flannel cotton, with velcro tabs for easy removal.Zippers - medium size synthetic material that glides quite well. No sticking or grabbing the liner so far.Velcro Tabs (at top of zipper at head of bag) - thoughtfully added extra velcro on the tab, so that, if you're not using the tab to close off the bag at the end of the zipper, you can fold the tab back on itself so that it's not scratching you or the bag.COMFORT FACTORThis is a really thick bag (both bottom and top). So, sleeping on any kind of uneven platform, pebbles, twigs, etc. will not be a problem (I only used a 1/4" foam pad underneath) - feels like a moderately firm mattress.COMMENTS ON SIZEGenerally, adequate to more than adequate for someone 6'0" / 235. However:- the hood section (extended bottom piece used to place pillows, etc. is only about 12".- the inner usable volume (max space between the top and bottom is adequate for my size, but not overly spacious. I didn't feel claustrophobic, but I did leave the bag unzipped. Note that there is a trade-off on this design issue - the more space there is to toss and turn, the harder it will be to stay warm. So, if you're in my size range, I think this bag will be fine.TEMP RATINGI don't understand manufacturers' temp ratings. I tested this at just below zero with the zipper undone (in a good tent with no wind), so I would assume it's good to about 10 below (with the zipper up).On the flip side, I wouldn't use this bag for anything above 25-30 degrees - it would be a sauna. This is strictly a winter bag.CAVEATSBecause the outer shell is fairly stiff canvas and the width is 39" there is no real closure around your head, so there is some exposure to cold around your neck and shoulders. I thought this would be a real problem, but it certainly didn't affect my sleep - overall, I was very warm and comfortable - because it's a heavy bag, the cold didn't extend down to the rest of my body and it's still a 90" bag, so you can slide down and only your head is exposed. There is a drawstring around the head section, but it's not very useful (stiff canvas). So, don't count on that if you really need to close off the head section. The warranty is voided if this bag is machine washed (liner is removable for washing). I can't imagine washing this by hand. So, keep it clean.BOTTOM LINEA keeper for the winter.

It Is Toasty Warm
It is very large and it is very soft on the inside, tough on the outside. It doesn't take long for the body to heat up once inside the bag. It is large for those who move around and one won't feel restricted.

Old school size and weight. Superwarm and durable.
Great size for me. 6'-1" @200lbs. Fabric of outside is tough but not too rough. Flannel(?) inside is nice. Removable liner is same material and has remained secure. Zipper is well designed. Straps remain attached but I don't lose them that way. Comes with nice duffle that can easy contain a pillow as well. This is not a compact system but didn't expect it to be. -20C and I had to take my socks off. Will test again at -30C ! Had some condensation drops inside the tent one morning - could just shake/wipe them off without absorbing into the bag, Nice.

Great for rated temps, large enough for a big guy
2nd of these purchased, bought first 2 years ago, 6-8 tent camping trips a year used on. Spring 2023, bought a second for my son as his sleeping bag wasn't up to it any more. Used in all conditions except cold winter (below -10C) and dead heat of summer (over 25C) - very comfortable. My son and I both big guys, over 6 ft and me at 280 lbs, him 220 lbs, fit comfortably in it.
