I had to buy this book for my superintendent classes and it was soooooo dry and boring I couldn't wait to be done with it. It's also VERY expensive even used. It will make a good projector stand ;-)

I bought the book for a class and was surprised how interesting the book was. It is very informational, information you want to know.

I have had to purchase this text for required reading and assignments for a graduate school class in Administration, and specifically a class on Business Management. I have gotten two chapters and I am floored by the outdated nature of the book. Published in 2008, it states that, "Witness the expanded range of services that schools now offer to assist parents, including most mother, who now work outside of the household" and uses language to describe systems in a PUBLIC SCHOOL as "retarding". Call me whatever you would like, but if this is the ninth edition of the book, it shoudl be a bit more updated than that. Also, NCLB is still mentioned as an active federal program. This book is also very anti-public education and bringing in a private-style to educating children. I understand that a business manager has a different perspective to school, but this is an extreme struggle to read without getting infuriated at every page. The authors of the book have no background in teaching in a public K-12 school and instead have ivy league educations.I also bought this book used, in "good" condition and the cover has been bent so many times. It looks so shabby for having to pay $112. Overall, if I didn't need this for a class, I would never have purchased it. I'm hoping that I can find some amount of useful information. Until then, I will be rolling my eyes at their antiquated examples and statements.
