Excellent riddle for sifting soil
I use this riddle to sift soil. All packaged soil comes with a lot of trash in it. Rocks and sticks mostly, but other things too. I sift all my soil before using it for potting or seed starting and for a long time, I relied on the 1/4" size to do that.I purchased this riddle to deal with the ever-worsening quality of packaged soil products. I now have to sift twice. Once with this riddle then with the smaller one.The good thing is that I can use this riddle to sift my compost. The screen size is ideal for that.I like how this riddle fits over a 5-gallon bucket. That makes it very easy to use as it puts the sifted material in a bucket, ready to go. It is very durable and well made. It is easy to use, even when wearing gloves. For what you get, the cost is pretty good. I would say the value is there. There are higher-quality riddles out there that can process more material, but few that fit well on a bucket. For that, this is ideal.I recommend this.

Great for sifting top soil
First, what I used them for and how they worked out:I purchased three of these. The 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8 sizes. I used them from largest to smallest to break up the clumps of dirt and sift out all of the rocks and other things that were in the top spoil I had. If you are looking to do the same and only want to buy one, I'd recommend the 1/4 size. It is where the majority of the rocks I sifted were caught. The 1/2 didn't catch anything, though it did break up the dirt in preparation for the 1/4 size. The 1/8 size caught a lot of smaller rocks, but if the dirt you have is too moist, it soon becomes hard to push the dirt through the openings.Build quality:These are made of thick plastic and thick wire. They fit perfectly on 5 gallon buckets you would find at most home improvement stores. I was presently surprised since some reviews I read said the opposite. Will they withstand a 20 foot drop? Who knows. Already survived some 6 foot drops with no problem. Cleanup was pretty easy. I just hosed them down. The wire mesh is curved upward towards you and when pushed down on, the plastic lines you see in the picture of the item help support what you put in the item. Those seemed the weakest part of the item, but for what I was using it for it hasn't been an issue for me yet. Also, the space between the mesh and that plastic got lots of dirt stuck in it and was the hardest part to clean. There wasn't enough space for a finger so just use high pressure hose attachments and you should be fine.Overall, would buy again. I wish they were a little less expensive though. You don't have to buy all three like I did. Personally I think that going from largest to smallest made the sifting on the smallest size easier. However, as I said before, for sifting top soil, the 1/4 size is the size you want if you only want one.

(Somewhat) Over Priced, but Very High Quality Product!
Minus 1 Star for being ridiculously expensive $12 bucks a pop in the Five-Piece Set (more than that if you are picking these up piecemeal), but still, high quality classifiers. Before you decide on purchasing these--know that if you are prospecting for gold, these are icing on the cake--you can pan for gold without fancy classifiers. These help you get through more material quickly (and hopefully, having consistent size material in your pan will help prevent you washing out your gold with your tailings. These are a great set (bought the 5-Piece Set). ALL screens in this set are Stainless Steel (not just the larger classifiers). Stacked, each pan stands about 1 3/4 inches above the last--I'd like them to stack with a slightly-lower profile for storage/transport, or even better maybe have two or three positions these can be stacked in (low profile for storage, medium/high for active use)--but we'll have to live with this for now.Classifiers fit nicely in any standard 5-gallon bucket--basically ANY old bucket will do--don't go out and splurge on a bucket.Recommend with SE GP1014G14 14" Green Plastic Gold Pan with Two Types of Riffles--the 14" gold pan stores nicely in this set.First glance: plastic seems sturdy (thick, yet slightly flexible)--basically what a Home Depot plastic bucket (or pretty much any plastic bucket) is make out of. Mesh is arched slightly upwards to better support material (raised even from the plastic cross members on the bottom of the pans). NOTE: The plastic cross members are beneath the mesh, and act as structural support. That said, these are plastic, and will degrade in direct sunlight (i.e: fade, and become brittle). I would recommend keeping these out of direct sunlight for any period of time--gives you an excuse to do your prospecting in the shade! It would be a shame to damage your (VERY COSTLY) classifiers!I'll try to add more to this review once I've taken these out a few times, but looking at other reviews, these should work great!

I don't usually leave reviews but this deserves a few seconds of my time. These are well made and stack nicely over a 5 gallon bucket, perfect for my hobby!

works for our birds
No gold in our pan, but works perfectly for what we needed. We feed birds and have a few hanging feeders, but the clumsy doves were too big for them. We put our seed mixture in the pan on the ground, and now the doves can eat too! The 1/20 inch size is perfect to let water drain but the holes are too small to allow the tiniest seeds to fall out of the bottom! Everyone is happy!

Worked exactly as I needed
I purchased this to sift out debris from my existing rubber mulch. I was able to save and reuse 80% of my mulch while removing more than a 1 gallon bucket of sand/dirt, rocks, birdseed, weeds, and other trash. This saves me a lot of money as I refresh for the new year. The sifter is very durable and the high walls allow me to sift larger batches.

Great piece of gear
I love these things. It has made getting fines so easy. For someone who deals with a lot of physical health stuff, I can use these to quickly get through a lot of rock without having to hurt my back. I love that they stack together for easy portability and I donโt necessarily have to do al the steps. It makes the whole system extremely versatile and travel ready.

Glue the edging to prevent baby mealworms getting trapped between the run gap.
I also purchased one with an additional finer sieve. However the meal meals get stuck around the rim as their are gapes between the plastic and wire mesh and they get trapped. On YouTube it says you can purchase liners to stop this but that means more money. Not happy.Additional informationI am now keeping the set but will glue the edging of the rim and hopefully I won't loose any baby mealworms. These mealworms in the last 2 pics was found after shaking on the 14th day after 1st using.

Great product. Super impressed 1/2,1/4,1/8,1/12,1/20th.
These things make sorting your material a breeze. I was worried that the quality of the plastic wouldnt be that good or the mesh would be crap but I am impressed with how they performed on their first day out regardless of their price =:0 . I took home 5 buckets of material to sift through of nice sand that I have already tested and know has gold. There is basically zero crap and the material i have to work with is a breeze. Goodbye nasty big rocks hiding my gold! Anyhow, if you have places that have a large variety of rock and dirt sizes this set will help your speed and comfort greatly. My only suggstion is to get a spare pan.... I think 14 incher so that you can dump and gather material with one and leave the other under the sifters. Also I noticed that they only mention the grit of the pans in mm but I wanted it in inches so Ill leave that here for anyone else wondering. 1/2 inch, 1/4 inch, 1/8 inch, 1/12 inch and 1/20th. Oh yea also i found 3 fit into a large reusable shopping bag perfectly so i left the 2 smallest at home for ease and can pull them out once i am home with buckets of good material. HAPPY Hunting!!!
