LattePanda2G/32GB Development Board - A Powerful Windows 10 Mini PC (Without Win10 Product Key) - LattePanda V1.0 Edition

I'd been toying around with getting Windows 10 running on an RPi4 w/8GB but too many features not working, primarily RPi touchscreen. I came across this and bought one along with the IPS display and digitizer.It arrived quickly, I got it setup and booted. It comes with Home edition installed but not activated with a user profile already setup, Windows version 1809.I downloaded the latest version from MS and created an USB installer. I got it booted to the USB and was able to install Windows with no issues. I used SnappyDriver to install missing drivers only, if you ever use this, only select missing drivers, too many times when doing newer drivers also it breaks things.So, I like it, it's a relatively quick little puter, the last Atom processor I played with was a Dell Netbook years ago, Atom's have come a LONG way!Also, previous to receiving, I'd asked a question about dual monitors and got a reply no from another user. I bought this to use in an RPi case with ribbon cable touchscreen and connect it to a bigger monitor via HDMI.I tested this, and it does indeed run 2 monitors and switches fine between duplicate and extend.Back to the touchscreen, I was unable to get it to function, even after searching and following recommended procedure so I returned it and will look at other options.One thing I like about the RPi touchscreen is it only has one ribbon cable for display and touch, shame LattePanda didn't do something similar.I like it though so far, and once done with this project will be looking at an Alpha model.

I needed a windows machine that I could hook up to a 12v DC system (in my RV). Decided to give Latte Panda a try.Slipped in a 200gb SD card (D: drive), connected keyboard and mouse, and installed my apps. Connected it to a 12Amp DC monitor, and now I have all the power I need to work on the road; even when not connected to power (solar + batteries + low power usage = unlimited time computing).It's not powerful enough to game with... but it handles web browsing, videos and the like with ease.Update after 1 year: Still no problems with this unit. It's still working great.

I received this product with no physical issues. I read that I needed to have a pretty beefy power supply that needed to be AT LEAST 5V 2A. So I saw from in forums that people have had issues with 2A and it shutting off randomly if they load up the USB bus or the arduino portion of the board where it would exceed 2A. I hooked it up to my bench power supply and powered it 5.1 V ( to compensate for cable loss) 3A. It worked fine and set up windows once and shut it down to mess with it the next day. Keep in mind that I shut it down properly according to what the support techs suggested on the forums. I turn it on the next day and I have a constant red light with a blue light indicating a corrupted BIOS. I saw that this was a common problem regardless of what power supply was used. I don't recommend this board for any development due to the unstable nature of this board and how easily the BIOS can be corrupted. They told me to spend more money on a chip flasher that I don't have. Even though they aren't expensive, how many more times am I going to have to deal with the same issue and how often is this going to keep getting corrupted? I'm returning this product because I don't even want to deal with it.

Tried to use this to power an external USB data acquisition system. It was unable to provide enough power so it couldn’t power the system up properly and lattepanda couldn’t detect it. It ended up frying a 400 dollar system. Not realizing it was a lattepanda issue, I tried another and fried that also. Cheap junk ended up costing me a lot.

Was looking for a small, power efficient, cheep, Windows capable computer. This fit the bill perfectly! No its not the most powerful thing on the market. Not by a mile. But for simple tasks such as web browsing, email, documents, and the like it does perfectly fine. I personally got one to replace my elderly grandparents computer for cheep. But after messing around with it for a while I could see how it could be useful for home automation via docker, scientific studies, robotics, you name it.One of the big selling point of LattePanda SBC is that they can run windows. This is something that few SBC can do from competitors. Most can only run some form or Linux as there usually ARM based where as this is intel x86, more specifically intel atom in the case of the LattePanda V1 SBC.The only real downside I have come across with this SBC is the windows drivers are a bit annoying to install. You have to download them one by one from there GitHub page and install them via CMD... why is there not just an executable for each driver to install them like every other company that has any windows involvement... Or better yet make it so the drivers are either in the windows driver repository, or make them discoverable at the very least when trying to update drivers in Windows device manager... But I digress.
