Dimensions Gold Collection Ornate Butterfly Advanced Counted Cross Stitch Kit, 6" x 6", Coded Thread sorter, 18 Count

I've been doing Dimensions kits since I was about 8 years old. I'm 23 now and for the past 4 years there hasn't been a time where I didn't have a Dimensions project going. This kit was great. Easy and quick but not too easy to be boring. Good for when you want to have a craft project for the weekends or something but are too busy to dedicate a lot of time to a huge project. And it turned out really beautiful. The colors are nice and bright.

Embroidering on black material is challenging enough. There is a HUGE section that you are using black thread on black material. Not sure of the point, very tricky to do this. Just a warning.

This is definitely a challenge--working with dark threads on black aida cloth. Do not choose this as your first cross stitch project. Set it aside until you have done some on white aida cloth and you've blended threads, used different kinds of stitches, etc. I used additional metallic blending filaments to make my butterfly iridescent. It's really outrageous.I really like Dimensions cross stitch kits. They have nice colors, the threads are already sorted, the instructions are complete, and you get to use several different kinds of stitches. Their finishing details are always nice too--French knots, couching, not just simple back stitch.

This craft kit came with everything needed for a beautiful piece when you are done. It is easy to follow the directions; even a beginner can do this. I love it!!

The design of the butterfly is very beautiful with vibrant colors. One does not get bored with stitching as the colors "bleed" in and one has to change colors often. The threads are pre-sorted which is nice and the instructions are well layed out.Note that the fabric has a very small holes (18-count) and is on black fabric. Although I love the effect, this makes the stitching more challenging. I use a magnifying glass and extra light on some days to be able to see the holes.I would recommend this piece to medium to experienced cross stitcher but not a beginner, as I can see the design and the small holes to be challenging for a beginner.

I bought this product off-Amazon for a few more dollars. The pattern is beautiful and really pops, but it's so vibrant because the aida fabric is black. A lot of the butterfly body is composed of dark thread, and some is combined (2 strands of 2 separate colors=4 strands total) to add texture and depth. This is a pattern for experienced cross-stitchers who don't necessarily need to see the holes to peg them or who have extra lighting or magnifying glasses. I like it and it's beautiful, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone doesn't love it.

I've done two other cross-stitch from dimensions, and they look great after completion. But this one has a huge design flaw: the canvas is pure black! I can't see where my needle goes. Imaging weaving black thread on a black canvas, you can see nothing. This is such a beautiful pattern, but I have to give it up at the end of the day, or I will be blind. I feel so frustrated, why are you doing this dimensions? I don't believe you hire experienced weaver to do the cross-stitch design first to decide how long each color of thread should go into the kit, if anyone had done this, they would have complained!!!!!

J'ai mis seulement 4 étoiles à ce projet dû au niveau de difficulté. Si le dessin ne représente pas vraiment de difficulté, le fait de broder sur de l'Aida 18 ct, noir augmente ce même niveau de difficulté. Il y a aussi beaucoup de noir à broder sur de noir, ce n'est pas nécessairement évident. J'utilise une loupe avec une lumière pour compléter ce projet et je n'ai pas de problèmes de vue. C'est don un pensez-y bien.

Perfecto. Dimensions nunca falla. Todo completo tal y como se describe. Bonito proyecto aunque dificil. Me gusta el tejido en color negro, pero se ve peor la trama. Un reto. De momento el resultado me esta encantando.
