I own lots of reels from ultralight spinners to heaving baitcasters and these sit somewhere in the middle. I use spincasts when kayaking down rivers because I can operate them with 1 hand leaving my other hand free to control the yak, etc. They never tangle and work with any lure weight (i.e. light stuff for streams). Unfortunately, the cheaper Zebco models simply do not hold up over time when used in frequent casting applications. I've gone through too many 33's (and micros) to count and could barely make it through a summer with the cheaper models before cranking/casting became so rough as to be unusable.Enter the Omega line! The bearing system and brass drive is built to last even when used heavily in casting applications. Out of the box, these reels are just as smooth as my expensive Shimano baitcasters. Plus, they cast a country mile and never tangle or catch on the edge of the spool cover (no plastic!).Pros:The oscillating spool actually does work. With the cheaper models, landing any fish over a pound (or getting snagged) would screw up the line on the spool. The Omega does a much better job keeping the line nice and even for long, smooth casts in between fish.The ball bearings and metal gears are silky smooth (not unlike a baitcaster) making it much easier to detect bites and get the fish in.The drag works smoother than the cheaper models (although still not as good as a baitcaster). Dialing in the correct setting on the cheaper models can be frustrating (and hard on the finger). The drag roller and the drag itself works much smoother on the Omega.These are relatively lightweight.The push button is sealed (rubber cover) so dirt and sand cannot get into the gear chamber like it did/does on the 33's and cheaper models.As with all Zebco's, these are very easy to disassemble for cleaning and service.Cons:I wish the gear ratio were just a tad higher. The 3.4 actually does a decent job and is a good middle ground and very versatile, but I would prefer something right around 4 to 4.5. That said, the Bullet with the higher ratio is not as smooth as the Omega, so given the choice, I would prefer to keep the smoothness of the Omega over the higher ratio.The drag, while smooth, is a little on the weak side. Even at the max setting on the dial I cannot get the line to fully lock to the point I can break the line without the drag activating. Technically, some might see this as a Pro since we don't want our line breaking while on a fish right? I personally would prefer a slightly stronger drag.Overall, these have a quality feel and there really isn't anything else out there better in a push button spincaster.

I already had 4 of these reels, two ZO3, and 2 of the ZO2. These reels are the Rolls Royce of spincast reels. The ocillating spool prevents "line digs" on the spool and I've never had one hang up from the line being dug in on the spool. 7 bearings makes is smooth as silk and almost silent when retrieveing. The spinner head has 3 pickup pins so it always catches the line. Plus it has two choices of handles, a single knob, which I like, and a double knob. And it comes with an extra "quick change" spool of line. I needed another one of these and found these at a bargain price so I ordered one for me and had another one sent to a friend in another state. If you're looking for the best spincast reel that money can buy, look no further, this is it.

I recently purchased the Zebco Omega Pro Spincast Reel and I am extremely pleased with its performance. The reel is very easy to use and the spincast feature allows for a smooth and accurate casting. The size 30 reel is perfect for my needs and the drag system works very well. The reel is also very durable and well-constructed, which is important when using it out in the elements. I also appreciate the sleek design and the fact that it comes in multiple colors. I highly recommend this reel to any angler looking for a high-quality, easy-to-use spincast reel.

By just casting in yard seems to be a good reel. It looks good and not to lightweight. I recommend especially for the cost.

Good price and good quality reel

It is a shame you can't just walk in your local discount store any longer and buy a good quality regular fishing reel. All they sell are those kid reels that strip the gears if you catch a fish larger than a bluegill, or they sell those expensive bait-casting reels. Years ago I bought one of the bait-casting reels. It cost a lot of money, but I was told that they really cast out far. In my experience they only cast out about half as far as a regular reel. Although it is the smoothest to "reel-in" that I have ever used, it cast terrible, and if your thumb ever slips off the spool while casting, the backlash is so bad you have to restring the reel almost every time. Fishing is supposed to be fun and relaxing. For the first time I bought an open face reel. It cast good, but you still have to use you thumb to stop the string or else your stuck in the cattails. It would be so nice to have a boat! I have wasted enough time with these two reels. I finally went online and got a regular reel (spin-cast reel). This Zebco Omega 3 made fishing fun again. It has been a pleasure to be able to pin-point my cast again. You have to get right up against the cattails without getting caught in them. I could never do that with the bait cast or the open face reels. If you see you are getting too close to the cattails or to the bank, you simply push the button back in to get you out of trouble, although I guss you still use your thumb. I gave this reel a five star rating because it cast so far (even better than the open face real), and it is so easy to use. I have read where people compared these reels to the Zebco Rhino. The Rhino does cast good, but I never got over two years before they would not reel-in any longer. I hope this reel out last the Rhino many times; it cost over twice as much. Moreover, I could not even buy the Rhino in the stores. If they still sell them, they are always out. I can not say how long it will last, but it cast great now.
