Passive cooling sounds marvelous

Good passive cooling solution for the Raspberry Pi 4. The squishy thermal pads are okay. It would have been nice if the manufacturer had included the 0.5 mm copper heatsinks suggested in the description and some double sided thermal tape. There's a bit of tension when tightening the screw nearest to the POE pin out. This might be remedied by using a different thickness of thermal pad on the USB controller and RAM chips. The distance between the cooling surfaces and the chips should have been measured more precisely but nothing was damaged during installation so it's all good. This aluminum heatsink case increases the weight of the pi which is good for keeping it stationary on a desk when the ports are populated with rigid cables. It's a great looking design overall. Feels solid when assembled, like holding an aluminum ingot. The gpio pin extensions are a welcome addition but it might be necessary to add some nylon screws and nuts to better secure a Pi HAT.Cooling performance is better than expected but there's room for improvement. Running 2 GHz overclock and temps have not exceeded 50°C so far. I tried a 40mm cooling fan on top and the idle temp hovers around an impressive 35°C under 25% CPU load. I do recommend including an additional squishy thermal pad for the bottom side of the Raspberry Pi 4 to improve heat dissipation.Shipment arrived the next morning 5 stars

Great passive cooling for RPi4B at stock clock speed; works with undermount USB SSD adapter boards

After trying Home Assistant on a discarded Celeron NUC, I realized that a Pi4B I had lying around was actually about 20% faster at its 1.5 GHz stock clock speed. But running 24/7 long term with a micro SD card is asking for trouble. So I added an M.2 SSD on an adapter board that stacks neatly with the Pi.I could not find a case for this arrangement. While there are a few cases for the Pi5 with an undermount NVMe adapter, none were listed on this site for the Pi4B. Fortunately, this case works for my setup with a little fiddling. The trick is using headless screws between the top of the case and the spacers between the two boards. I cut the heads off some M2.5x12mm screws I had on hand and smoothed the cut ends with an abrasive wheel.Running the sysbench CPU test on all 4 cores for 20 minutes produced a peak core temperature just 24 degrees C above the room ambient. Although I do not plan to overclock my Pi4B, this cooling solution would clearly support it.

RasPi Armor Case

I have a few RasPi's and all but one had the Armor case which had a fan. with the fan the temp was running around 53 C however the fan was starting to make some noise so it was time to upgrade to the armor. Now the temp is running about 37 C and no noise. This is for a RasPi 4

An excellent case - compact, robust and thermally efficient

I found this to be an excellent passive cooling case for the Raspberry Pi-4.I wanted a case that worked with the Pirate Audio shield, this case does an excellent job of protecting the Pi while providing effective cooling without the need of a fan.The case is made out of black anodized aluminum. I had no issues with fit or finish. The lid of the case has precision machined heat pipes that contact various components on the Pi, die-cut double-sided thermal tape is provided to facilitate heat transfer between the Pi and the case. In addition, two IO pin connectors are provided, allowing you to extend the Pi’s IO ports if required. A single IO extension worked with the Pirate Audio shield, two provided a bit of extra space between the shield and the top plate of the case. As you would expect, the case has openings for all of the Pi’s portsInstallation is very simple, place the pre-cut heat-tape on the Pi’s components as outlined in the instructions, align the Pi on the base, set on the top plate and bolt together with the four screws. Everything required, including an Allen wrench, is provided. Installation is quick and easy.I found the case did a good job cooling the Pi, thermals stayed well within the optimal range, even under extended use.I’m very pleased with this case, it is compact, robust and thermally efficient, all at a reasonable cost.

Quality Machining but Minor Board Bending

Item came in great shape and fit well. Good clearance around the ports and both of the GPIO extenders came in handy. My only gripe is that with the included thermal adhesive pads applied and the screws all of the way torqued down, the heat sink pushes extra on the processors, leading to some noticable bending of the board. If I was using this for one project that would stay together without removing the heatsink, I would just replace the thermal pads with some thermal paste. Otherwise, just don't screw down too hard and the bending will be minimal.

Great hardware and great customer service

This is the best when it comes to heat sinks, the entire case is one big aluminum heat sink and works great. The customer support was great too. I had 2 stripped taps and they sent me a new one asap. Works great.
