Good lock , nice modern design
Needed something for my daughters cool (yet unfinished needs another sanding and clear coat) curved barn door for a curved wall and this was nice. It’s a lot of work to install goes in like turn of the century old door locks. Be prepared to cut , drill and chisel to make it fit. It took a lot of tweaking but once it was in and the locking plate installed I spent about 30 minutes adjusting it but it locks every time perfectly now. I am a contractor who does woodwork bathrooms kitchens so be informed it’s not the easiest thing for a DYI.

Beautiful but no install instructions
These are absolutely beautiful and nice quality with some weight to them. The installation instructions suck, there are no templates that come with it. It doesn’t even mention that you need to cut off some length from one of the metal pieces to make it fit the width of your door (example for our 1 3/8” door.) I’m hoping my installer knows what he’s doing, but visually, these look stunning and have a deep enough recessed handle to be able to easily pull the door open or shut. The recessed part where your fingers go is slightly textured, which gives it an even nicer quality finish. The lock and key are great features since we used them on a pocket door to a room.

How to take out the key to use thumb lock
This mechanism is very good price for what you get. The handle is nice looking. I hired a carpenter to put this on my door because my door is new. He didn't say it was difficult to install. After he left, I could not lock the door with the dial without leaving the key in the lock. The carpenter came over, took out the handle on the locking side and turned the flat pin so it was sideways rather than up and down. He put it back on and it now works. Simple fix.

This mortise lock is neither invisible, nor recessed. Buyer beware!
This lock is pretty and a good price. I hired a carpenter to install.Sadly, the lock isn't flush, nor designed to be. The hardware sits 3mm out from each side of the door. If you are looking for an 'invisible, flush mounted mortise lock - which I was, this lock is not it. There is no way for the door to fully retract without now removing the trim around the door and cutting out space for the lock mechanism. The second negative is that once locked the door can still be open a large crack.

Great sturdiness but if you are not a craftsman, then get one to install this for you. It’s very specific in the tolerances but well with it.
