TCT-MT Backrest Sissy Bar Rack Baseplate Fit For Harley V-Rod Anniversary VRSCA VRSCB VRSCD VRSCSE 2002-2006 05 Black

This kit is NOT specific to the 2008 VROD Night Rod Special as the baseplate will not fit. I purchased this kit becuase soley to use the shorter backrest that they don't sell separately. I did purchase the kit specific to my VROD but it had a taller backrest which I didn't like (it was taller then I expected). The backrest bar is about 1/2" narrower so I had to use brute force to spread it open to align with the mounting holes on my 2008 baseplate.. Once I got the correct width, I was able to mount with no problem.

Well, I like this unit and think it's pretty well made. Kind of....For those who popped this on in 10 minutes, congrats. For those who struggled with the bolts...I feel your pain. I can tell my fellowV RODDERS out there a few things to save you some trouble:1. Use anti seize or oil on the bolt before inserting bolt into the base, then gently turn it BY HANDBefore whipping out your tools. The machinist who tapped in the holes must have been hungover and legally blind.2. If you are using a Sundowner seat , expect it to be a bit of a struggle getting it to fit, but it will.3, Ignore the picture of the back of the pad. It shows cheesy cheap staples holding the upholstery together, it actually had a nice zipper on the bottom. I think the same hungover blind guy drilled the holes in that too. Seller should remove that pic.All in all, dispite all I mentionedit looks good and does eventually fit .I suspect it will work well as designed. I hope the paint holds up ok but I will just powder coat if it scratches.Update: I've had this less than 4 months and it's becoming rusty. The screws wont stay in place as the machining is so poor. I should have looked for a used genuine HD UNIT. I've had to remove the rack part as it will not fit right on against the seat and I'm scared of ripping the upholstery open. I will have to work on this , tap some new holes and try to prevent more rust from developing. I learned my lesson about aftermarket foreign parts from this one and wont be sending any more of my money to them if that's even possible.

Every Single bolt stripped out. They weren't even tight yet! Literal junk. The back rest bar is two inches too wide.... save yourself three frustration and wasted money and move on. Worst peice of junk I've ever tried to put on my bike. I built a frame and back rest out of square tube aluminum faster than I finally got this crap fixed and adjusted so that it fits. I wish there was a 0 stars option. Terrible fit and finish. The luggage rack has orange peel happening in the "chrome". Just all around a frustratingly poor reproduction!

Fit perfect and works beautifully with the included hardware!

This unit looks good but the 4 holes for mounting the back rest to the base plate did not line up and was also skewed,The base plate is set at 40mm on center. the left side of the backrest was ok but one hole slightly skewed. On the right side the holes were drilled at 42,5mm and one hole badly skewed, This sets up for an unsuspecting screw misalignment and thread tear out. Therefore instillation was not for the weak of heart. An unexpected amount of time was require to repair, machine and install. Also note the spread of the back rest frame was wider then the base plate and required the purchase or 4 new 6mm screws with a 5mm longer length to pull it in tight to the plate. the new chrome bolts cost an additional $14 dollars. I could not recommend this without this caution. As we know, HD no longer makes or sells this product for the V-Rod.
