Beginner Jazz Soloing for Trumpet: The beginner’s guide to jazz improvisation for brass instruments (Learn how to play trumpet)

i have been improvising professionally for a while now and this book is helping me improve. I have been practicing what is in this book and then applying what i have learned to tenor sax play alongs on youtube. My fellow band members have seen the improvement as well. This is a must have book for any jazzer...beginner to pro. It is nice to have these useful scales and patterns right in front of your face instead of just figuring them out in your head as you go. I am like many players that rely too much on my ear and limited proficiency with scales and patterns.

I have 5 months playing the trumpet but I can reach up to a G. This book is very understandable a easy to digest. My wife tells me that I seem to be playing as a jazz player, jaja in fact you will See that after finishing this book people will Tell you about your Sound or music.

I teach trumpet to middle and high schoolers. I was looking for a book that provided an understanding of basic chord structure and chord progression. This one focused more on patterns of improvisation on certain chords. It might be okay for some trumpeters looking for improvisation skills. It didn't make sense to me, and I play jazz trumpet with a jazz band.

I can’t read pages! Each page has small size text and over extended text widt on each page is ridiculous.Kearning, spacing, width, … stupid size to accommodate a learner.I give them the middle finger!!It’s hard enough remembering. Don’t make it harder. Please!!!!

Buster has written a wonderful, systematic approach to Improv. The backing tracks are very nice. I highly recommend this book.

This is a great book for developing your musical skills in ways that your usual books ignore. If you want to play tunes straight from the dots then look elsewhere but, if you want to take the time to develop that musical ability to just pick up your instrument and play along then go for this book. It explains reasons why and reasons won't in a simple and progressive pathway through harmony and chord progressions and building confidence along the way. Brilliant!

You need to download the material for the book otherwise the book is of no use. The download itself is easy enough (even for a non techie). As to the excercises it's like having a tutor but without being corrected for mistakes. I haven't yet tried but think the best results would be to record each session and then play it back to listen to your playing and hear how you sound against the download

I just bought the Kindle version of Beginner Jazz Soloing for Trumpet. After completing Lesson 1 I know that this the book that will show me the light for my abition to solo.
