p>teapigs loose leaf masala chai – masala dream
What does chai tea taste like?
First of all chai means “tea” and masala means “mixed spice”. Our
masala chai contains cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and some vanilla,
so has a beautifully well-rounded aromatic scent and flavour. The
cardamom and vanilla give the blend its sweeter notes, while the
ginger and cinnamon bring those heavier authentic chai flavours.
Our malty Assam black tea gives this chai the perfect rounded
base.
How to brew masala chai
Because we use whole leaves in our blends, you will need to brew
your loose leaf chai for longer than your usual chai tea bag: 3-5
minutes should do it. For the full experience, brew it in a fancy
glass teapot so you can watch the leaves unfurl and the spices
infuse. Or just have a quick scroll through our Instagram to pass
the time before adding milk and sugar. When it come to how much
chai to use we’d recommend a large teaspoon, however you can
always go for more or less, the great thing about loose leaf tea
is that you can tweak the a to what works best for you.
How to make a chai latte
Packed full of whole leaf tea, s and spices, our chai tea
temples make for the perfect chai latte! All natural, no added
sugar and SUPER simple to make at home. 1. Pop one tea temple to
your mug 2. Cover with boiling water (about ¼ of mug) and steep
for 3-5 minutes. Add honey/agave/ brown sugar for sweetness 3.
Prepare your frothy milk, if you’re fancy and have a milk
frother, kudos to you. If not, don’t worry, you can simply heat
some milk on the hob or in the microwave and give it a quick
whisk by hand after (careful, it’s hot…). 4. Top up your mug and
you have your masala chai latte. You can dust some cinnamon over
for a finishing touch!
Who are teapigs?
We started back in 2006, because our founders saw that exciting
things were happening in coffee, but good quality tea still felt
a bit stuffy. We saw the rtunity to get everyone drinking
real tea again! By that we mean big on leaf and big on flavour.
We know that making small things (like your tea break) better can
make a big difference. That first cuppa in the morning? Game
changer!
