Review: So far so good! - This has actually worked to make this area just not a desirable place to go. Initially I just wanted the TV area covered, but I had a bit extra and was able to cover my console table and a single square with the stakes provided zip tied fit perfectly snug on my PS5. With a little scratch board and a cat tree nearby, she just doesn't have any interest in climbing up there anymore. With a single extra square left I have it zip tied infront of the smaller TV in my bedroom and it has similarly kept her from hanging out in front of the TV. Other than it being mildly annoying when she'd chill up there, I caught her a few times pawing at the screen. I love her... but the idea of her scratching the TV was enough to get me to desperately try anything to prevent it. Aluminum foil hardly worked. Double sided sticky tape was just annoying and required too much upkeep. This is sorta set and forget. I have an electric air duster I hit it with occasionally and that's enough. Needless to say, I'm extremely relieved to have found a solution to keep her away, and anybody suggesting this could hurt your cat is being silly. They're just tiny plastic spikes, and in my case she just looked at them and was like "eh that spot sucks" and went elsewhere. I'm a new cat owner, and I've learned a lot of cat ownership is redirection. This is an excellent tool for that.
Review: Easy to trim and does the job - Works great for keeping cats out of gardens and outdoor flower pots and can be easily cut down to size with scissors.

## Features

- Humane Cat Deterrent - The plastic spikes create an uncomfortable surface under cats’ paws, helping keep them from stepping on the mat or digging in protected areas. This physical barrier is designed to deter pets without harming them and requires no electricity or sprays.
- Protect Plants and Furniture - Place the scat mats around potted plants and garden beds, or on sofas, countertops and windowsills where you want to discourage unwanted visits. Suitable for targeted indoor and outdoor areas.
- Shape the Coverage to Fit - Connect the flexible 6 x 8 inch panels to cover a larger area, or trim them to fit corners and narrow spaces. The panels can also be positioned around poles or trees to help discourage climbing.
- Easy to Position and Secure - Place the mats with the spikes facing up. Use the included garden staples to anchor them in soil, cable ties to attach them around poles or trees, or adhesive discs to help hold them on suitable surfaces.
- 12 Panels for Custom Layouts - Includes twelve 6 x 8 inch plastic cat spike mats. Together, the panels provide 4 sq ft of material coverage, so you can create separate barriers or one connected layout.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are the spikes hard or flexible?**
A: They are flexible. They're uncomfortable to step on but cause no harm, at least to our adult cats (and us).

**Q: Will they work on keeping raccoons away**
A: honestly not sure, they only briefly worked in keeping my cats away from unwanted things, and raccoons are much smarter than cats.

**Q: does this work very well for keeping a cat off the top of a table?**
A: I've been using it on countertops and shelves and it's doing the trick. It wasn't an immediate fix - my cat tried to traverse the spikes a few different times (with varying degrees of success) until she gave up. You will want to move anything nearby that they might knock over in confusion if you do give them a shot.

I have found these most effective on the shelves where I'm able to zip-tie them so the cat can't knock them off.

**Q: Does anyone know how long (as in tall/height) the spikes are?**
A: The spike is about an inch tall. It didn't keep my cats off the counter but they are lunatics....lol. They just knocked them off on the floor. I now use them on my deck under my hummingbird feeders. The raccoons used to get up there to drink from the feeders and would eventually break the feeder. These scat mats work great for that. Raccoons don't like them and no more broken feeders. 😀

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to trim and does the job
*by C***A on July 28, 2026*

Works great for keeping cats out of gardens and outdoor flower pots and can be easily cut down to size with scissors.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well for plant pots, may need more coverage for larger areas
*by J***Y on March 13, 2026*

I bought these hoping they would keep our cats away from the Christmas tree since we were dealing with spraying around that area. Unfortunately, they didn’t completely solve that problem. The tree area is fairly large, and I think it would probably require several packs to cover enough space for them to be truly effective in that kind of situation. Where these did work well was in our plant pots. I placed a few pieces in the soil to prevent our cats from digging or using the pots as a bathroom, and they’ve been great for that. The spikes aren’t sharp, but they create enough of an uncomfortable surface that the cats avoid stepping there. The mats themselves are lightweight but sturdy. They’re easy to trim and position where needed, and they’ve held up well so far without bending or breaking even after being moved around a few times. In terms of value, the pack gives you a decent number of pieces, but if you’re trying to block off a larger area (like around furniture or a Christmas tree), you may need multiple packs. For smaller targeted spots like plant pots or specific problem areas, they work well and feel worth the price. Overall, they worked best for protecting plants in our home, but coverage size is something to keep in mind depending on how you plan to use them.
