love!
Until I had a child who wants to run everywhere, I thought these things were awful. I take it all back now. I love them! I took my son to Disneyland, which meant two trips through LAX. The first time I put him down in the airport, I turned to put my bag down, and by the time I turned back, he was 50 meters away and accelerating. I put the backpack on him and he could be standing on his own without me clinging to his hand and I didn't have to worry. This one is also adorable! It's nice bright colours and fits his little 1 year old frame perfectly. It has plenty of growing room for our next trip too!

Adorable and functional - a marriage of convenience
It's super cute, and it does what it says. My son thinks that "run away from Mommy" is a really fun game, so I got this. I also have a back injury, so constantly picking him up to keep him from darting off was killing me. I have a stroller, but he quickly loses patience with being forced to sit down. He's very active. I initially avoided getting this product, because I was afraid of how people would react. I finally ordered this when A. He ran away from me in a parking lot, and B. I got tired of not being able to walk from having to pick him up so much (my back). For the most part, people smile at him in his leash. They think his elephant is adorable. Also, most anyone who has had a kid knows how necessary a leash is for a toddler. I don't know how many times I've heard someone tell their kid, "I had to put you in one of those, although it wasn't that cute." Or they'll tell me directly that they had one or wanted one for their kids or grandkids. My only concern is that, in the future, the area where the leash attaches to the body of the elephant may rip off. I've got a puller, and he loves to test the strength of the leash. I do wish the leash attached to the top, rather than the bottom, but maybe it wouldn't work because of the head. And speaking of, the advantage to the elephant is that the trunk works as an extra little handle to control your runner.

Point-by-point comparison of elephant backpack harnesses
I bought both the Eric Carle and the Child of Mine Backpacks for my twin 16-month-old sons. Here's a point-by-point comparison:Eric Carle 2 in 1 Animal Backpack Harness (Elephant)Pouch is 6.5 inches wide at opening; 7 inches deep. It has a zipper that runs in a semicircle around the top of the pouch, making it easy to move things in and out. Because the elephant has almost no padding, this backpack holds a good amount. Two standard 10-oz. baby bottles (2.25-inch diameter) can fit in, with a bit of extra space around them, and the zipper can be closed securely over them. The elephant faces backward, with the pouch between the elephant and the child. Depending on what is in the pouch, this design could be uncomfortable for the child. Also, the plastic zipper pull is large (almost 1.5 inches long and .5 inches wide) and could possibly poke the child’s back.Harness has only one buckle on the front. Since the leash attaches at the bottom of the pack, any tension on the leash tends to twist the backpack sideways.Leash is 32 inches long, with a loop to stick your hand through at one end and a clip for the harness at the other. The leash is made out of the same fuzzy blue material as the backpack. Loop is only 4.5 inches wide, making it a little difficult to slip your hand in and out of if you have large hands.Child of Mine 2-in-1 Harness Buddy (Elephant)Pouch opening is 4.5 inches wide when stretched open, but pouch is a bit wider inside due to the rounded shape of the elephant; 5.5 inches deep. It has a small square Velcro closure in the middle of the opening. Because the elephant is well padded, it’s difficult to fit much into the pouch: a standard 10-oz. baby bottle (2.25-inch diameter) fills it and sticks out several inches above the top.The elephant faces forward, looking over the child’s shoulder, with the pouch on the back so that the padding is between the pouch and the child’s back, making this very comfortable.Harness has two buckles on the front for added security (and a bit of added annoyance when getting the child in and out of the harness).Leash is 40 inches long, with a loop at one end to stick your hand through, and a clip at the other end for the harness. Leash is made out of the same grey strap material as the harness. The loop is 5.5 inches wide, making it easy to slip your hand in and out of.

its nice
My husband and I purchased this pack for our daughter. She is two and has a tendency to run on us. I call it a harness, my husband calls it a leash...We used it when we took our daughter to the zoo and it worked well. A week before she kept trying it on and would want us to go outside with her while she had it on (that's an awkward moment when neighbors see us "walking" our daughter). But, while at the zoo, she did not know it was on and it kept her close by. The pack has a small compartment where she kept her juice and a goldfish crackers. My only concern is the leash part...it's sewn on, but my fear is that it will come off.

Love it!!! A MUST HAVE for an ornery toddler!!!
Absolutely adorable!!! Yes lol I’m one of those parents whose kid needs a leash?!? It came super fast and I couldn’t be more pleased with it! I ordered this for the shore for my very ornery 2 year old! He loved it and was perfectly content with wearing it (which really took me by surprise) I called it his “walking bag” the pocket is big enough for some snacks and perfect size for hand/face wipes! He never complained about having it on not even when he was in his stroller. If u could see how excited and crazy my son got with all the lights and noisy things on the boardwalk he just wanted to see and TOUCH everything and during a pandemic... this was by far a LIFESAVER!!!
