Don't give up it will happen
My dog could care less-- However since she has a knuckle that pops out of place in her back leg from time to time; it's time for stairs. She is fine with it if I am there and tell her to use it - if not she jumps. As her leg get worse, she will use more often - she is a smart girl.

came with a broken foot
the dog I purchased this for only weighs 5 pounds so the broken food is no big deal. she uses it, but I would have liked to have an unbroken one and did not have time to return it. I needed it immediately. so just kept it. she runs up and down on it all the time.

Great for Cats
I bought this for my medium-sized baby boy feline after an accident left him with a pelvis broken in four places that had to be surgically repaired. After the surgery and the initial eight weeks of cage rest, I found that my boy just couldn’t jump like he used to. That didn’t stop him from wanting to climb, though! When I saw him pull himself up on the bed with his forelegs like some kitty Arnold Schwarzenegger a few times, I quickly came to the conclusion that a lifetime of these athletic achievements would risk possible injury and long-term issues, like arthritis, to said forelegs if allowed to continue. Hence my purchase of these steps.I appreciate that these steps are made of solid plastic, which was important for me due to the predilection for the kitty boy’s older dog brother to lift his leg in the house from time to time. It was for this reason as well that I decided to forego installing the anti-slip pads. Additionally, any accumulation of fur and debris on the steps can be easily removed with a whisk broom. My cat learned very quickly how to use the steps, and though I do have them parallel to the bed and braced against my dresser, they don’t seem to have a huge problem with getting pushed around. I appreciate that they can be folded to move around and store easily and that they lock into place when open. My cat loves his new steps, and I never see him trying to pull an “Ahhhnold” anymore. I’m also glad I have them for when his geriatric sister stops being able to jump on the bed herself. My dog has started having issues jumping on the bed. As he’s still young, he’ll need to go to the vet, but in the meantime, I’m going to teach him to use his baby brother’s steps, since they’ll hold his 55-pound weight. I’ll come back here to update this with how well they do for a Labrador Retriever mix.
