Best of the collaborative games we have
Great game to work on strategic thinking. Easy to get into for ages 4+ with enough strategy to keep 10 year olds interested. Lots of time spent playing this one.

Fun, cooperative play, visually appealing and reading is not required
The majestic dinosaurs, inhabitants of a lush valley, face imminent peril. A colossal volcano threatens to erupt. The survival of these ancient creatures depends on a collective effort to evacuate to a distant island before the fiery deluge consumes their idyllic valley.Game Mechanics:Objective: Safeguard the dinosaurs by guiding them across the game board and onto the safety of the islands.Players: Young adventurers aged 4 and above collaborate in this cooperative endeavor. (Don't worry it is fun for parents and grandparents too.)Movement: Each player selects an item card, which corresponds to a specific dinosaur. Each turn they advance toward the islands. The dinos cannot share spaces, requiring the players to employ clever tactics.Double it up Strategy: To expedite the evacuation, players can play the same item card twice, allowing their dinosaur to leap over others. This dynamic movement keeps the dinosaurs moving towards safety.Lava Threat: Interspersed among the item cards are lava cards. (Boo! Hiss!) When drawn, these cards inch the lava token closer to the valley. The stakes rise with each lava card drawn.Winning the Game: The ultimate goal is to transport ALL the dinosaurs to the island before the lava reaches the volcano’s base.No reading is required, making it accessible to young players.Collaborative Spirit: By fostering teamwork and minimizing competition, this game encourages children to develop basic strategy skills while working harmoniously to overcome the volcanic threat. In summary, Baby Dinosaur Rescue combines educational insights with cooperative play, encouraging your little angels to embark on an enthralling prehistoric adventure.

Something to engage everybody
My four-year-old loves board games, but it's hard to find games where the mechanics are both easy for him to learn and remember AND that don't bore the adults (one of whom is an avid tabletop gamer), teenager, and the six-year-old to tears with repeat play. He also has a very hard time not being the winner of every game, so I was also looking for a good co-op game that we could all enjoy without major meltdowns. Baby Dinosaur Rescue has checked all the spec boxes for us. It's a quick game, so nobody is tired of it before it's over, but involves some basic strategy that keeps us enagaged, and there's no guarantee that all the dinos will be safe before the lava comes down - as it gets closer to the bottom, there's a lot more communication about who is going to save which dinosaur and with which card. The only time we had any emotional difficulty was when the six-year-old kept drawing lava cards and couldn't play anything else - the cards got shuffled up a bit better for the next round! All in all, I am very pleased and impressed with this game, particularly as it's made by one guy rather than a whole game company. This is a worthy addition to any game cabinet for a family with preschool-aged children.

Slightly Better Version of Hoot Owl Hoot
So we already owned a game called Hoot Owl Hoot, and this game is exactly the same as that game, but with dinosaurs. I will say that this one has an easier path on the board for kids to follow than the owl game, and the dinosaur theme is really fun. You're rescuing the baby dinosaurs from lava, though, which means that if you don't win, baby dinosaurs basically die in lava. A very sensitive child may be upset by this. (In the owl game, if the baby owls don't get home before dark, oh well, they can still go home.) The other downside with this game is that if you are dealt a certain card, you don't get a choice in what to play on your turn. If that happens multiple turns in a row, kids can start to get frustrated. We love cooperative games because we work together and win or lose together, which is great for toddlers and preschoolers who don't need to be focused on winning and losing. This concept allows kids to get the hang of turn taking, how moving game pieces works, how dealing cards works, etc. without flipping the table when they lose because they have no impulse control. This is a cute game, and fun. My 4 year old really enjoyed it, and we saved all the baby dinosaurs from the lava together. :)

Dinosaurs!
This game lands squarely in the middle of my kids' venn diagram of interests - baby dinosaurs, volcanos and blue brachiosaurus/apatosaurus type creatures. The design is really good, my boy loves looking at the board and carries the dinosaur tokens around with him.The game itself is simple but interesting and easy to house-rule to make it easier or harder. Siblings can easily drop in and out of the game as they want without derailing the game.It does seem a little pricey for what you get but it's not bad, I've paid more for games that are nothing but a few bits of card. The board, tokens and cards are nicely made and should wear well enough.Overall if this is in your kids area of interest it's unlikely to disappoint and is a good intro to board games in general.

Super Game!!
I bought Baby Dinosaur Rescue for my 4.5 year old grandson. He LOVES it! His mom and I played it with him quite a few times over my weekend visit, and he even added one of his toys as another player! The rules were easy for him to understand. The game encourages cooperation and strategic thinking so that all the baby dinosaurs can get to safety. Five stars for sure!!
