Natural Balance Dry Dog Food Limited Ingredient Diet for Large Breeds, Lamb Meal and Rice, 28 Pound Bag

Life changing dog food! We have a 13 year old Black Lab with very sensitive skin and allergies. We've changed her food soo many times and nothing got rid of her skin problems. The doctor told us she had a poultry allergy and we told them we changed to a poultry free product years ago. Or at least we THOUGHT we did. It turns out the label on the other food was very misleading. The front cover said no chicken by product meal on the front in big letters so we thought it was safe. It actually had poultry fat listed as one of the ingredients on the back. The doc pointed it out to us and suggested we try Natural Balance.I drove to the Pet Supermarket immediately and picked up a bag and have been ordering it from here on subscribe and save ever since. Her skin looks soo much better and her ear infections are gone. No more head shaking due to food allergy induced ear infections. She's one happy dog now and we couldn't be happier to have our dog back to herself. She LOVES eating this food too. The first time we gave it to her she scarfed it all down and looked up at us like she wanted more. It's definitely pet approved!BONUS: 3 weeks after we got this food we added a new puppy to our family. She is another black lab mix. This food is the only food we will ever feed her. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that this food is good for puppies all the way up to adults and the quality is absolutely amazing. I only have to buy one kind of food instead of two because both of our dogs eat it... the geriatric dog and our puppy. The puppy has been eating this food since we got her and her hair so soooo shiny. We get lots of compliments on her hair and always tell everyone what food we feed her.I recommend this food to ALL dog owners, especially to those with food allergies and skin problems. It's also the ONLY food you will ever need to buy for the life of your pet.

I have used Nutro brand for all my large breeds (past and present). I currently have a Labradors and Golden Retriever.I have yet to come across a dog of these breeds with a "picky" eater issue so I can't comment as to how well my dogs "love" this food. I use slow eating feeders for my big guys so, when it's dinner time they look like I dropped a prime rib in their bowl! I suppose they "love" anything they are allowed do eat and this food isn't an exception.I can however say that I haven't had any issues with their coats, GI problems, or skin irritations and their stools are consistently firm.I switched to this flavor years and years ago when one of my labs suddenly became allergic to chicken and began getting terrible hot spots. Once my vet diagnosed his allergy I stayed with Nutro but switched to their lamb and rice. I have continued to use it ever since!

My dog was on very expensive all natural dog food but he still became allergic to one or more of the many ingredients. Likely chicken but it could have been eggs or beef. My dog's feet smelled very bad, his ears itched, peeled and smelled. I tried various expensive dog shampoos to no avail. I thought I would just have to put up with a smelly dog and continually wash his bedding. On a routine visit to his new vet I mentioned the ears and feet. She informed me the smell was from a yeast bloom that overtakes his gut when he is allergic to the food he eats. The next step was to try a limited ingredient high quality dog food. If the ears healed up, the feet no longer smelled bad and the stool firmed up the allergen had been removed from his feeding. After two week on this food and on another brand (California Natural Lamb and brown rice) he no longer smelled and his ears were healing. At one month he was new dog. Now I can add back food items, one at a time, to see what he can eat. So far sweet potatoes and white potatoes are ok. So for the future I will keep him on this food or California Natural Limited ingredients. The nice thing about Natural balance is it is approx. $18 less than California Natural when I buy Natural balance through Amazon.

This stuff is THE food for our Great Dane.It contains the right amount of protein/fat ratio's needed for our fast-growing beast dog. Very healthy & high quality. It's expensive, but definitely worth the investment. We were originally using a different flavor & I wanted to switch to a more bland one or grain-free food & I found this one. Also, the kibbles are double the size of the normal kibbles which really slows down our dogs eating habits! Anyone with a Dane or dog the wolfs down his food & can get bloat... or just get sick... will love the benefit of the larger kibble!We had mixed the other Natural Balance flavor (Venison & Lamb) with Purina Dog Chow, about half & half lately (he's been eating & growing like a weed!)- what a terrible decision! Our Dane has the smelliest gas & behind- YUCK! After mixing in this food & making the "switch" between flavors, the Natural Balance is about 80% to the Purina Dog Chow now again... and WOW major difference. I had no idea that lower quality dog food could impact our dog so dramatically. Lord, we could smell him laying across the room. We will keep the 80%-20% ratio for good & never stray from Natural Balance.Anyway, AMAZING five star product. Who wouldn't wish it was cheaper, but I will NEVER sacrifice money-saving when it comes to our Dane now!

My golden retriever has significant food allergies. After trying many different foods and proteins, I decided to try Natural Balance Lamb and brown rice formula. I noticed the difference within days! My dog's stomach issues and allergies disappeared! Her coat was much softer and she was noticeably happier. NOTE: if your dog has allergies to the more popular dog food proteins this product is worth a try, but of course every dog is different. You may have to try many different foods before you find the right fit.

Dogs seem to like it and I don't have to lug it home from the store. I agree the product came overpackaged.

Packaging was an enormous waste of resources - oversized box stuffed with kraft paper enough to fill a recycling bag. The dog food was as expected.
