Fantastic piece of kit, don't know why I didn't buy one before!
Straight out of the box, this is a great bit of kit! I had read the reviews and was a little skeptical having never used or heard of these helmets. I haven't welded much over the past 20 or so years but still had an arc welder with a hand held mask. Recently bought myself an old motorbike to tinker with and tried to weld a bracket, soon realized I wasn't as good as I thought! Then looking at the old mask thought maybe it was that I couldn't see well enough (not just getting old!) so went online and saw this, for the money I cannot believe how good it is, straight away I could get the arc I needed and the screen darkens immediately. I'm welding now as good as I was all those years ago, if not better! The action of the mask is really quick not problems, setting the delay is easy and the head adjustment is good. I can't fault this mask and they give 5 spare lenses too. It's a no brainer, if you weld buy one, simples!

You need one of these
Works really well. You cannot even start to weld properly with the hand-held shield that comes with the welder, for two reasons. First, you need two hands: one to hold the torch, and the other one to steady that hand against the table or workpiece, or anything that's fixed relative to the workpiece. Second you need to be able to see what you're doing. Without those those two things all talk of pulling or pushing the puddle, torch angle, travel speed, etc. is theoretical. So you either need one of those helmets you can flip down by nodding, or an auto-darkener. The auto-darkener is much easier to use. It also has adjustable shade. I use 10.5 for a small flux core machine on max power which is probably conservative but way lighter than the hand-held shield that came with the thing. You can also set the delay (which is how long it stays dark _after the arc stops_ so set it higher for thicker stuff that continues to glow brightly for a bit) and the sensitivity, and there are test and battery low lights.I've burned up about 2kg of wire with this thing so far and the battery light is starting to come on. But I'm welding like a boss and am super-pleased with it. Also amazing value. So seems like a good time to do a review.

Worth the money.
Works great. Loses points because helmet tilt adjuster is pretty useless and when welding, condensation gets trapped between the lcd panel and the inner plastic protection panel. This obscures the view and takes hours to clear. I solved this problem by using silicone sealant around the plastic protection panel. Just need the visor to stay up when not welding.

Good value for money mask
i am an amateur welder but this helmet seems to work very well. The auto dimming is very quick and the helmet reasonably comfortable too. Price wise it is very good value for money too

Perfect for novice welder.
Took a little while to set the head band for maximum comfort and fit but once done very stable helmet that does exactly what it claims - superb value for money and as a novice welder having my hands free for the important stuff is a great boon. Re-acts to the arc instantly. Would not hesitate to buy another if needed - as my daughter wants to learn to weld once I am more proficient hopefully that is soon :-) .

Decent enough quality
Takes a while fiddling with it to get it to fit right, and with repeated lifting up and down it does turn the screw that loosens it, so you're occasionally resetting the tightness (can be annoying) but overall, after having for over a year, this is not a bad investment. I don't weld too often so this price point is reasonable. I'm sure it's no good for any real welder but for the occasional hobbyist it's fine.

Good value and works very well.
Bought as my first helmet it's a lot easier to strike an arc when I can view the workpiece. Used for 15 weeks for about 2 hours a night and so far so good. No problems with getting flashed, my eyes have been well protected. You can wear a set of safety glasses as well behind the helmet for extra protection.Don't forget to clean the lens now and again! This is powered by a single cell battery and its still on the original one.

I've now seen the light.. Or not!
Arrived promptly and well packaged, this is my first reactive welding mask, I've been struggling with an old fashioned traditional mask with glass that was probably too dark for mig welding anyway and wow what a difference! Even in my slightly gloomy shed I can see the work before striking an arc and the response time is quite amazing once it detects the arc, seems to be reasonably sturdy for the money and nice and comfortable when wearing as its quite light. If you do any welding and don't have one of these, then you're mad!
