Cheap, high quality, simple, super stubby
I love price, the quality and the low profile of this dipstick. Has a nice O-ring at the top to seal it. Great looking part. I installed this in my 1968 Ford F-250 4x4. I purchased this because my 460 engine has headers, burns oil and is a rear sump so the threads for the original dipstick are on the driver side of the oil pan. It was a pain to get the threads started into the pan because the long tube headers are in the way making it difficult to get hands in and to see if it's straight. I ended up taking the driver side header off and rested it to the side so I could get the space needed for hands and to see. The dipstick comes with a copper washer to seal it to the pan as well as an O-ring at the bottom but the O-ring was not needed for my installation. The bracket on the top of the dipstick mounts to header bolt between cylinder #7 and 8. It's protrudes through about 2". Once you do the install you must make your own marks on the dipstick for full. I made mine at full and a quart low on the stick. Overall I'm very happy but it is a bit difficult to reach on a 4x4 pickup. Thanks for reading and good luck :)

Does the job
This works for a 351w with a driver side dipstick that screws into the pan. It is a bit short and on a tall truck it’s quite a reach to get to the handle. It looks good and the handle which is machined from solid aluminum feels substantial in the hand.

Great for Custom Conversion, but Not for Stock Replacement
Way too short for stock replacement. This would be great for a hot rod conversion or some application other than in a big F250 truck. I could have used it if I had no other choice, but, fortunately, I was able to fabricate a new tube out of electrical conduit. It is a quality piece which would definitely dress up an engine, but do not use it to replace a stock dipstick/tube on a truck.

Nice enough, but the actual dip part where you ...
Nice enough, but the actual dip part where you take the reading is too short. Its only extends about 2" from the bottom of the nut. I needed 4". The tube is pretty short, which i could have made work. Someone else said its about 14 and some inches. perfect for my application would be about 16-20.Had they made the actual dipstick longer and trimmable, I would have given it more stars.Application was for an '89 Kodiak Marine 460 in a jetboat
