Icy Hot SmartRelief TENS Therapy SmartRelief Control Unit for Wireless Knee & Shoulder Pain Therapy

Anyone who has experienced serious joint or back pain knows that relief is often hard to come by. For a therapy that actually works, no price is too high, and this product is incredibly inexpensive, especially for what it accomplishes. I started developing osteoarthritis in my shoulder and knees from past history of sports injury and overuse as a former ice hockey goaltender. I also have a history of pretty bad back spasms as I have several slightly herniated disks. To me, this product is a godsend. I use it as a regular therapy that not only keeps my shoulder and knee pain at bay, but also has improved my mobility and range of motion in my shoulder. Works similarly for my knees and back. Sometimes I'll use it for 5-6 hours in a day. That's what I did the first time I got it and it made my shoulder feel new again. This product has enabled me to get active again and take up tennis and golf, neither of which I could do with so much pain. Of course, you can't expect complete miracles. If you're sensible, you'll make sure to work on keeping muscles stretched and supple, keep inflammation down (especially icing), and take supplements -- especially glucosamine/chondriton and TURMERIC (the best natural anti-inflammatory to humankind). Nevertheless, this product goes a long way toward making me fit and active. Along with turmeric supplements, it's probably the single best health product I have purchased in my entire life in terms of the benefits it gives me.That said, I hope I haven't set anyone up for disappointment. It seems that the overall product rating is very high and my rating is consistent with that. But everyone is different, and sometimes a certain therapy isn't going to help you, even though it works miracles for others. At any rate, I recommend giving this product a try. At $26, what's really to lose?

I have had knee pain for so long I can't even remember walking without a limp. My mother's doctor suggested she try this and it was working well for her so she talked me into trying it. I used it for the first time last week and when I took it off (it's SUPER STICKY and hurts a little the first few times you take it off - I would not use on older, fragile skin) I stood up and I could walk! No pain!! I was pain free completely for 24 hours until the end of a waitress shift the next day. I used it again & same results. Pain free for a few days as long as I wasn't running my butt off in a restaurant. (luckily I just do that on the weekends!) I highly recommend this, it worked wonders for me.

Worked very well for what I suspect was a mild frozen shoulder (I used icyhot gel patches before and after TENS sessions as well). A little difficult to apply by yourself especially when your arm movement is limited because it's very sticky and hard to correct if put on wrong. The gel that sticks to your skin feels very cold during the session, I assume some small icyhot material in it, and I expect to get about 5-7 applications out of one pad. The replacement pads are very expensive, I hope some generic brand will make suitable substitutes, but right now it's well worth the pain management.

I have this on for most of the day; I had a steroid shot for my shoulder, didn't do much. So I've tried this. It does help with the pain that runs down my arm from my shoulder to my elbow. If nothing else, it gives me a different sensation besides pain. You can turn it up to very intense. At first, there's a felling of pulsating electricity, something like someone thumping on your skin with their finger. Then it turns into a light to intense gradual zap. I keep turning it up, and your muscles will contract the more you turn it up.

I've had it before and misplaced it but I bought at Walgreens. This price is amazing and the product does wonders. I use it for my shoulder and back. I've had aches and this really relieves it. Easy, straightforward to use.

Pros:Easy to apply, easy to use, easy to understand.Decent quality electric pulse power. Definitely keep the pads on the plastic sheet after use and store them in a closed bag for longer wear.Cons:Having had tense neck muscles as well as tendinitis and osteoarthritis in my knee for years, I assumed I would get a lot of use out of this TENS unit. Compared to other common pain relief methods, (I use over-the-counter pain/inflammation reducers, braces, creams, have had therapeutic massage, and also have a small, handheld ultrasound unit to treat pain) I found this stim treatment to provide temporary relief only while it is being applied, and limited residual success afterwards.I used it across my shoulders, for tight trapezius muscles, and while it does send waves that contract and relax the muscles, when the timer is up, the muscles seem to return to its tight position, even after using it for two sessions in a row (60 minutes). And, while I did not expect it to "cure" any arthritic condition in my knee, I would hope it would have reduced the throbbing/pain and tightness where the muscles clench to protect the joint. Again, the relief seem to be during the muscle contraction stimulation, but after it went off and I removed the device and I stood up I did not feel any relief. This was just my experience and others seem to have noticed a greater percentage of success.

I bought this Icy Hot Relief Tens unit for my 92 yr old mom. She's suffering from osteoarthritis in her knee and has complained that the pain has kept her from running her weekly fitness class. That's right she's 92 and runs a fitness class for the younger ladies in her condo complex. She's able to , place the pad, make the attachments and adjust the current this unit uses. She tells me that short of a knee operation this unit solves the pain problem. She uses it in the morning and again later in day if the knee pain comes back.She did check with her doctor to make sure it would be OK for her to use. She doesn't have a pacemaker or any other electrical gadgets attached and the only metal is a rod in her other leg. If you have a metal knee replacement this is not what you want to use.
