Can I use for filtering cooking oil? Will the nylon melt?

You shouldn't try to filter when oil is extremely hot (right after cooking) but you can use after 10 minutes when it is still warm.

Does this work with hot oil? I'm looking to refer lard.

It’s pretty fine, so it filters slow. It works well you just have to be patient. If it’s thick might not work well
