How to Speak "Horse": A Horse-Crazy Kid's Guide to Reading Body Language and "Talking Back"

This book is easy to understand for kids, but is useful for adults as well. I bought this for my 9 year old horse crazy niece. I read the book first, to make sure I could support the facts and help her with the techniques. I think this book is spot on. Sure, there is much more to learn about horses, but this book is a very important starting point for anyone wanting to communicate effectively and kindly with horses. She loves the book and so do I.

Loved this book. It may be few in pages, but it's very easy to understand and packed full of information with great illustrations for those new to horses and a good refresher for others. Bought it for my 7 year-old niece and the rest of her new to horses family. It provides information, quick tips, and recommended excersizes including observing horse interaction and how important/effective pressure and release is in communicating with horses. I had her read it and then we used it as reference/guide to observe the interaction of our horses when we brought a new horse home last weekend. We made a game of "what are the horses saying", and discussed prey animals vs predators. I highly recommend.

Good beginner information about body language for handling horses. Gave easy exercises with explanation on why horses act a certain way and how a handler can use this information to be safe around horses.I was hoping that the book would go further and give more examples. Basically the book was good and I wanted it to be longer.Good read for beginners.

Book is just not for children. Beginning adult riders can benefit from this book. Lot of information on understanding what the horse is saying to you by his posture and head movements. Offers simple ground exercises that could benefit any age beginner rider and first time horse owner. If you are an adult, don't pass this book up just because of the cover speaks to children. You can learn a lot from this book. And because the book is written for a young age, the language makes the book easy to understand how to communicate with your horse. Highly recommend this book.

Have 2 young horse lovers. My granddaughter is 9 and I thought she would enjoy this book. She was delighted and loves it.

I'd say this is a book is great for 8 year olds and under. More pictures than info.

I gave this and a horse story book to my 7 year old grandson as part of his birthday present. He was happy to see them.

Everytime I try to speak to a Horse now, they just bite me. I also thought they were spitting on me, but it ends up that was a Llama.Don't recommend, I still can't speak horse.
