The unit we received was fully assembled but it was loose in some areas. I think the unit was returned by another buyer because there was a label that was covered over on the box. They probably returned it because the unit was loose. I took it apart and then put it back together to tighten it up. It took me a while to figure out how to do it but it was well worth it. It looks great and it is super sturdy and I am very happy with the end result.

I purchased this shelf set because it was the ONLY mountable set of shelves I could find of this size with a lip/rim to prevent items from falling off. The towel bar was a nice bonus. After purchasing it (before installation), I was worried that I might not like the metal that extends forward on the shelf. However, now that it is mounted on the wall, I am very happy with it. It looks great and the items I intended for this shelf (including a long Kleenex box) fit perfectly with room to spare in case I want to put something else there. The person who was installing things into our newly remodeled bathroom commented that he was really impressed with this set of shelves. Wonderful purchase!

Note, I bought this item over the weekend while it was available for $57. It's now listed from a different seller for $169. I'd give it 2 stars, maybe just 1, at the higher price. I felt the shortcomings were somewhat justified by the price.The fixture is attractive and came almost fully assembled. I had to screw in the connector for the towel bar. I'm not sure if it was supposed to come fully assembled, because I couldn't get the towel bar into the holders, which screw onto the threaded rod that runs through the spacers from the bottom shelf.I eventually had to saw off about 1/4 inch of the towel bar with a hacksaw to make it fit. It fit firmly after this. Perhaps some better quality control is needed.The item came with no instructions or mounting template whatsoever. I'm not sure if it was my experience hanging fixtures like these (limited), the way the mounting hardware is designed (wiggle room provides), or just dumb luck (my guess), but I was able to hang the shelves with the included hardware perfectly level on the first try.The unit may be slightly out of square - I had to put a small stick-on rubber bumper between the wall and the support/stop on the bottom shelf. That may also be the walls in my 40+ year old house.I'm happy with the look and was able to troubleshoot the problems, but buyer beware if youre not willing to tinker.
