The best that I have had
An excellent product with the exception of the size of the compartment for adding your favorite aroma to be distributed by the air purifier. It is very small and may easily stick if a favorite oil is accidentally applied to the edges of the compartment. Other than that possible flaw, the product, packaging, and functioning are very good.

Very quiet apartment air cleaner
Easy to assemble, and very quiet. I believe this is a HEPA 17 or greater air filter. We could see dust particles in the air of our apartment that were visible in the beam of a bright (LED) flashlight. No more. This appears to be a quality product. I also bought a replacement air filter cartridge, but the installed one (several months) is in good shape according to the "meter" on the unit. I highly recommend.

Unit developed faulty circuitry just after 1 month
The purifier broke five days after the 30-day window for returns expired, and now I am stuck with a defective unit. There is a short circuit in the LED panel and the lights on both the air quality and fan speed indicators at the number 3 position blink on and off. I am not sure the unit works in the range indicated by the faulty LEDs, nor can I be sure there is no fire hazard. The defect may have developed sooner but I was out of the country when it happened and didn't return until it was too late to do anything about it.

Very good but costly air purification system - there are less expensive alternatives available
The Boneco P500 Air Purifier seems to be a very well built and designed product. It is whisper quiet and seems to actually reduce the dust in the room (stand in your room with sunlight coming through a window and notice the dust and other such "dusty" things floating in the air) - not so much with this in operation. There are lighted sensors on the front of the machine that allow you to see how well (or hard) the system is working. Don't expect it to clean the air in a room within a couple of hours - it will take some time to work through the existing schmutz in the air - and if you've got carpets - it's going to be an ongoing battle as just walking across the carpet is going to stir up dust. It cleans a room up to 222 square feet. I've tried to work out how many cubic feet that is, but my algebra isn't what it used to be.As many others have pointed out, the Boneco is not an inexpensive prospect - at $500. Then add to that that filter replacements run $100 each on Amazon. Here's my perspective: I commissioned my HVAC company to install a more powerful "whole house" filtration system because I live in a highly wooded area (and I'm allergic to mold and ragweed) and I've got a dog that sheds like crazy. The whole house filter works great - I see much less dust on surfaces as a result and the air is cleaner overall. HOWEVER, air purifiers are essential to take care of the additional stuff that gets kicked around simply by opening doors and windows and the dog and its shedding. SO, I've purchased two Brookstone air purifiers for two different rooms in my house. They are about 2/3 expensive as this one and they do a really dynamite job on cleaning the air. So does this Boneco - as I've put it in another highly used and dusty room. The big difference for me - and remember I have a whole house filtration system - the filters. With the Boneco you will have to pay $100 to replace the filter when it gets too dirty to be of any use - this is expensive but so are my whole house filters and they work wonders. My Brookstone air purifiers work very well too! I have no way of determining which actually cleans the air more thoroughly, but I can tell you this: the Brookstone purifiers do not require replacement filters. They attract the dust via static electricity and then the dust attaches to the filter. The filters are removable and washable in the dishwasher or by hose (or other similar method). Thus there is no cost for filters after their purchase. My guess is that the Boneco probably works a bit better - but the after purchase costs of the filters is a concern for me.

Pricey, but works.
Prior to obtaining this BONECO P500 unit, we were using a Claritin CAP531B-TU Tower Air Purifier. The Claritin unit does a great job of cleaning the air, and keeping air moving - all while being quiet. We hoped the BONECO offered the same capabilities at a more impressive level. Well, it works, but it's not overly impressive in comparison. We find the BONECO to be a solidly built unit. It has a sleek look, and a minimalist design. It's easy to get started (remove some wrappings, stick the filter in, and close the case). It has plenty of features you need in a purifier - fan control, timer, and an air quality sensor to adjust the unit for optimal use. And best of all, it does its job very quietly. I could barely tell it was on when we first used it. I had to keep checking the panel to ensure the power was on. But sure enough, it was cycling air.The unit is easy to clean and use. You remove the panel and clean the pre-filter, and then put it back to work. But some of the concerns we have are:-The unit is large. It is almost 3 times the size of our Claritin unit. And we're not sure why. It's not pretty enough to take up the floor space it needs.-It covers the same square footage as the Claritin, and the air flow is comparable. So again, why the size difference?-It cost about 4 times as much as the Claritin unit. That's just for the unit and first round of filters.-This unit uses a large HEPA filter. The instructions are vague on expected life, but say to change within a year. The Claritin expects longer than a year. And the filters for the BONECO are about $100 at the time of this review.-The carbon filter is part of the HEPA filter instead of being a separate component that can be cleaned or replaced.I imagine the filters in this unit are of better quality overall than the Claritin unit. They certainly give that vibe. But the cost of the unit upfront, and lifetime costs for filters and upkeep are astounding for this BONECO system. That leads one to expect far superior functionality. In my opinion, that's just not there with this BONECO.That's not to say the BONECO is bad. In fact, the unit works well. Now that we have hard floors on our entire first level, an air filter is a must to keep dust at bay. This does a great job at managing the dust and pet dander. I just wish they had done a better job at minimizing costs. If you want a unit that works, but at a price, grab this air purifier. If you prefer to save a few bucks for the unit and future filters, look elsewhere. There are plenty with comparable capabilities. Despite the concerns with cost, this unit earns 4 stars for it's functionality and doing the job it's supposed to.Longevity still to be determined.
