Not a replacement for 184226
I have a Sierra 18-1986-1 marine exhaust manifold on my 2005 5.7 GXi. I talked to West Marine and they said the plug is 184226. It says here that it is compatible. It is not.The threads are slightly larger and they look to be coarser too.Too bad its taken me this long to figure it out as I had to remove manifold as old plug snapped (corroded in place although brand new 2 years ago??). Anyway, another story. When I find right one I will use anti-sieze on it too.Too bad can't return now - oh well.Update 7-9-2023:I spent hours pouring over questions, reviews, etc. about this item.For what It is it is good.Problem arrives with it and others is that the Sierra manifold 18-1986-1 is made for both Mercruiser and Volvo Penta. Doesn't have diff part number for one or another.SO...this will not work with VP or Visa-Versa. If you search for Vokvo Penta Manifold Drain you will find.I wish this was more clear in description for all of these. That's why lower star review.Also, I'd suggest using antisieze as water will get between threads and corrode there.

I dropped one of these down my bilge, so I decided that a few extra would be wise. Worked great.

Super important to remove all debris.
Item went right in after running a tap for the same size. Thought it didn’t fit, I was wrong.

Great replacement & quality material
My boat is a 2004 and even though it is garage kept some plastic parts can become brittle over time. That was the case with these plugs and when it came time to drain the water from my engine the "wings" on these snapped off. while it only happened to one I went ahead and replaced all and purchased an extra set just to have spares. These appear to be made from the same plastic material as the originals so they should last just as long as the ones you will be replacing.Get ya a set or even 2 to have spares.
