Q: Does it come with strings? If not what are the recommended strings for this guitar?

Yes. It does come with strings. But I also bought two sets of Elixir light gauge phosphor bronze acoustic guitar strings . Not expensive. This is a great little guitar...nice rich sound for a small guitar and it stays in tune. Very pleased.

Q: does this come with a gigbag?

Yes. It’s not one of those cheap ones either. Very nice gig bag. The instrument is well set up and plays like a dream!
