Hi, I’m not sure if they were hall marked as they were for a gift, but they did state sterling silver so they should be. They do come up small though compared to picture, but are cute earrings. Hope this helps.

how do you open and close them?

They have a hinge, so you gentle at the top pop them open. Once in you push them closed making sure they line up. You will hear a click when done up. If they are not doing up I have taken them out and lined up the catch again (had to bend it a little). Be gentle with them when undoing. Hope this makes sense I have about 9 pairs of these earrings
