Little Blade Than Can
First let me say that I love that Schrade made a universal sheath. Thank you. The steel on this is supposed to be 65Mn high carbon. Blade length is just a tad over 3.75 inches. It does come with a ferro rod and a striker too. Seems there were some initial issues as to whether this knife could perform as a fire starter. Several videos on line prove that it can if you do some minor adjustments to the blade. So here are the pro's: Very light weight at 6 ounces. Love the textured handle. Not sure if it is Micarta or not but it fits my hand like a glove. No slipping yet. Full tang with nice lanyard hole at the top end. Sharp but you will need to do some fine tuning. A non issue for me. Perfect size for general tasks and so far it appears to be very sturdy. Some light gimping on top of the blade which actually feels good. You can baton with it just don't try to cut red woods with it. Smaller limbs are no problem. Feathers wood decent enough. Has a good balance. You can remove the ferro rod holder. Cons: Non that make this a bad knife. The sheath is a tad bit tight but hey over time that will change. Overall I highly recommend this if you prefer smaller and more controllable knives.

Best knife under $50!
First off let me say that the reason i cary this knife is for personal defense as an EDC, so i wont be chopping trees with it. With that being said i feel like it fits the bill way better than most people's folders/assisted knives. Its bigger but not obnoxious ( than a folder ). And in addition, there are no locks to fail on you. The 65nm steel is the same steel used on my Chanceinhell machette by CTKT which is a steel chosen for toughness, so as long as you use it as a knife i anticipate 0 failures. The balance of the blade is also on point, making it fun to twirl or transition from blade up or blade down with a little practice. The sheath locks the knife in place with little rattling, and the ferro rod provided comes with a striker so you wont need to file the blade or mess up the edge using the knife to strike it. I love it so much im hesitant to use it for dumb shit only because i want to preserve the finish on it. Definately a great buy! Now for people who arent nerds about knives let me tell you that this is not a stainless, so dont be letting it get wet or stay wet. Clean it and oil it after repeated use and keep it dry when you can to prevent rusting. If you have 100, 200 or even 500 dollar knives in your collection i would still recomend this knife. For $27, you wont cry if the cops take it or you misplace it, and you will know that you have a solid piece on your hip.P.s. i have medium size hands so this fits me well. A person with large hands will not appreciate this knife as well as the handle scales are on the thin side.

EDC Worthy; Holding an edge is just okay, good for light/medium duty
I’ve had this as my EDC knife for over a year. I wanted a knife that I could carry on my belt without it getting funky when sitting down. I found with anything larger, they get funky when seated. I also wanted a knife that blended in well and didn’t stick out as to say “Hey, look I carry a knife”. My entire wardrobe is black and has been for years, so I figure, a black sheathed, black fixed blade would suit me well. The size is perfect. It’s small enough to not get in the way and large enough to do daily stuff like open letters, cut off tags, and all the other stuff you’d use your EDC knife for.I also wear it while riding my motorcycle and again, nice and inconspicuous. After a bit of cutting cardboard, fishing usage or heavier duties, it loses its edge. I find myself having to run it on a sharpener every time I use it like that. The sheath is awesome. It holds the knife really well and cut be adjusted for different draw preferences.I have an older Schrade folder that comes from a time when they were made in the USA, and that knife holds the edge really well (even after cutting through that clear, plastic clamshell packaging everything comes in these days).I added a paracord strap to go around my wrist during those times when dropping it may lose it (like over water, cliff or deep hole).I’d recommend this little knife, but for light duty stuff. Or, just understand that you’ll need to sharpen it more often than other higher quality blades. For under $20, it is what it is! I won’t be replacing it anytime soon - I give this an outlook of 3-5 years when the sheath stops holding well or the blade’s been sharpened so many times to the point that it needs to be replaced.

as near to perfect as you'll get for the price
After several weeks of using this knife, I have to put this out in front of my initial thoughts on this knife. I do really like it, took off the belt loop, made one of leather, carries nice, despite blade edge discoloration it holds a good edge ( I beat on some tin and aluminum cans with it and it had no visible edge deformation). its as near perfect as you are going to get for the price. if you are willing to put a little time into the knife to fix the little imperfections it will give a lot back.Initial thoughts:only complaint so far is that the sheath, significantly dulled the blade, which is really annoying because i just put my whetstones away from honing the edge...... the 'Fix" for the sheath is as follows. A thin strip of tooling leather, silicone caulk for the adhesive, was slid into the sheath along where the edge of the blade rides. used leather because it was available, and a material that should not dull the blade....caulk to hold it in place for the same reasons. Similar to how I "fixed" the sheath for my BK2, which has been effectively "fixed" for two or three years now.The blade of the knife: I was able to strop the knife back to sharp enough to pretty finely featherstick a piece of dried silver maple... everything seemed to have worked out pretty well. Will update if things change!Update: had the knife for about a week now, have not used it beyond sharpening...visible discoloration / beginnings of rust on the sharpened bevel....stored out of sheath...not in a bucket of water! I was hoping to use this knife as an edc....but if its beginning to rust in my dry as a bone house in the middle of winter with the forced air heat blasting, there is no way this knife will survive hot humid PA summer (Just an opinion at this point)

Highly Recommend to Anyone Looking for Neck/Boot Knife
Honest Review ;I had a similar neck knife .It was a bit more expensive but was so light around my neck - I forgot it was there .Each and every day I take my 3 dogs for long walks thru the wooded area behind my house .- You never know what is lurking back there .I collect knives .Most times I would wear on my belt loop ) but those knives are pretty big - and long .So I wanted one of these neck knives .My first ever neck style knife was really nice . But really light .I literally forget that I would be wearing it .Walk into a grocery store or the local mall and I’m wondering why some people are looking at me strange ....Oops!! I forgot about that —/ then I just tuck under my shirt .Anyway - I just had to order this little guy by Schrade/.Not only is it super sharp but it’s got a nice weight to it . Not too heavy but at least I know it’s there !!No forgetting I got this around my neck ....No more fumbling around in case my dogs get tangled on branches and wild weeds .No more fumbling around in case a wild ass raccoon or angry ass Bird wants to suddenly attack ..This thing is great !! Just one quick tug away from body and look out !!! Hahahahaha— For now I am just using cheaply made paracord but eventually will be using the gun metal ball chain ( also ordered here on Amazon - just waiting a few more days for delivery ).Highly recommend this knife to anyone looking for a neck or boot knife that is not too big .

A little disappointed
Schrade seems to have improved their lineup in recent years, even making some of their knives in the USA again. This is the 4th Schrade I've purchased recently. The first 3 I really liked, this one not so much. The good: I like the materials used, G-10 scales and AUS-10 steel. AUS-10 steel is the premium stainless from the AUS line produced by Aichi Steel. AUS-10 can be made to be very hard, as high as HRC 60. As such it offers great wear resistance and edge retention. It is however easy to sharpen and can be sharpened to a very fine edge. AUS-10 also provides good toughness so resists chipping and breaking. Since it is stainless it also resists rust. I have for years owned many Cold Steel knives made from AUS-10 and found them to be rugged and great performers. The pattern on the G-10 scales and the excellent placement of the jimping on the top of the blade make gripping this knife easy, even with wet or oily hands. When testing this knife it's performance equaled the other AUS-10 knives in my collection so Schrade seems to processing the steel well. Great performer! Now the bad: One of first steps when receiving a new knife is to compare the actual dimensions with those listed by the manufacturer. I use only Starrett digital micrometers, and calipers. With this knife, for the very first time I found a blade that was thinner than the spec listed by the manufacturer. Even the cheapest knives meet or exceed this measurement. The handle scales were also disappointingly thin. I'm going to have to add liners to make me a little more secure holding this knife. I do have large hands however (XL or XXL gloves) so the handle might fit you better. The heads of the screws have suffered a bit of cam-out so they are rough to the touch and look bad. No QA process? Finally, just a few times pulling the knife in and out of the plastic sheath is already wearing away the blade coating, leading one to not expect the coating to last long.About the sheath...I am old and in turn old school. I prefer a good leather sheath. Some of the plastic sheath are good though, Ka-Bar, Cold Steel, and Glock especially. The sheath that comes with this knife is not in that league. Of all the built-in knife sharpeners I have seen though this one is the least offensive. I'll probably end up tossing the sheath though.Update: I have been working with this knife and overall like it. I've sharpened it until it's as sharp as a straight razor and is holding that edge quite well. I've added red liners to the handle scales. It looks cool and the added handle thickness is very welcome. At first the sheath was very tight but that has quickly changed. The sheath grips the blade on the finger guard. The blade coating has worn away already and now the knife slides out much too easily. I've tossed this sheath and bought a nice leather one.

Quality
Exactly what I expected from Scharade knives. Good solid well made knife that is very easy to put a razor sharp edge on. Thick enough to chop or beat on. Although that's not why |I got it, good to know it's tough. I bet I could jab this through a car door. (not going to try lol)The sheath is great. Holds the knife well. The belt fastener is ok. With all the ways you can place it on the sheath with the variety of holes, it didn't fit me the way I wanted. SO I took a heat gun and heated it up, bent it to my liking. I might toss it all together and use some 550 cord to fasten it to my belt. These holes are great for that too, and will be as snug to the belt as possible. The way it is now it sticks out a bit.All in all I rate it a 5 because you just can't beat it for the price. A little personal ingenuity and any one can make it fit there needs. It''s the kind of knife you pass on to your grandson later. Should last several lifetimes.

Very cool little knife
Nice little knife. Comfortable to wear and handy. Feels great in my medium sized hand with the addition of a leather lanyard. Came with a good edge that was made better with a quick stropping. Blade is as thick as the larger SCHF59. Sheath holds the knife securely and looks as cool as the knife. Not much can go wrong with this knife so I'm sure I'll have it for a long time. Great value for a useful and well constructed knife and sheath. I was wanting something a bit more substantial for my intended purpose. so upon receiving this and seeing the quality, I immediately ordered the SCHF59. My girlfriend has taken this over as it's not as scary as my other knives. It's an Amazon box opening monster !
