I bought these landing nets for a different purpose then what it was made for.My reason for buying these were because I needed to minimize what went into my fishing backpack for surf fishing. I’m getting older, and unfortunately through the hard work throughout my work life, my body isn’t what it was because of injuries and just plain old - getting the dad bod..I have shovels, pitchforks, sand rakes and so on. Tried it all. So I bought these because they fold up and they were $12.99 (when I bought them). I needed a way to scoop the sand crabs out without having to lug around anything heavy and be able to move freely and comfortably, up and down the beach.Well if you’re needing the same thing, here you are!It does not feel cheap and flimsy! It’s actually quite sturdy and solid. The mesh net is rubber/plastic coated. It’s super lightweight and it folds down to nothing! You get two of these for a steal!! Great product, great price! I’m sure it’ll scoop and hold the fish you catch (let’s not be ridiculous and assume it’ll withstand the weight of Godzilla) but I’m sure it’ll do great at what it was made for - the undertow was strong the day of the video, and it held up, on multiple occasions!

Pretty good for the price. Foldable so compact but not the sturdiest feeling but that's not to say it's not made of good material just that with all the joints it's not as solid as a fixed net. I will say the actual netting itself is proving to be fairly strong. It didn't rip under the weight of a 25 lb common carp. Then again I was holding it by both of the arms instead of the handle and neck and it was only get it off my paddle board and on to the shore. The top of the rim which is more or less a string of plastic beads did snap and I'm pretty sure the handle would have if I had tried to use it but it was also more weight than I was originally expecting it to need to handle so take it that with the grain of salt. It worked fine for smaller fish. And even with that peace gone I don't see how it's going to affect the use of it too much.The fish in the picture is not the one that snapped the piece of the net.

Decent little net. Not extremely big, but will hold a 20 inch fish. Very durable for the price. I have used this net for years. My child left it at the creek, so I bought the same one again.

Caught several fish and used this. Performed well, easy to fold, light weight, it floats. I will buy the same exact one again when this one falls apart down the road.

Haven't had to use it yet, but did open it up, extend and retract the handle, locked up fine and works as I expected it to. Handle sturdiness appears to be fine, especially retracted, where the internal tube is inside the outer shaft. I plan to use this primarily for catching frogs and crawfish for bait and I think it will work great, even extended out to full length. The locking collar works fine to adjust shaft length, but the locking nut works CCW to tighten. I see no reason why it wouldn't be equally effective for smaller fish such as trout or smallmouth bass. I would recommend rotating it 90 degrees before lifting heavier fish out of the water to place the stress across the hoop and less on the handle, but that's true of most landing nets. It does fold up nicely for storage, and has the belt clip on it if desired. The junction where the handle shaft meets the net hoop, including the locking clips, are plastic. I would be inclined to store the net out of direct sunshine when not in use, to keep the plastic from getting brittle from sun bleaching. Otherwise, all good and a nice price point. Don't know if they stated as such, but it is made in China.

Initially, I was really excited to get this, for being an avid angler I was pumped to have an affordable, collapsible large net I could carry. I do a lot snake head and striper fishing from waders and also planned to use this to catch baitfish for catfishing. Unfortunately, it now sits in the corner of my garage occasionally seeing the daylight when I go baitfish netting and also to check my crayfish / craw dad traps.I’m only saying this because Every fish encounter I had with this net was a struggle. The net would collapse under the thrashing of the fish making it a complete cluster. (It would pop out of the mechanism that holds it open) Between wading using this and also utilizing it in a kayak I soon gave in because this net really isn’t designed for larger fish. It’s great for the kids and smaller fish species such as trout, panfish, crappie, bass (smallmouth and largemouth under 4 pounds). If there is any possibility you might catch a large fish, grab another net, I don’t trust it.. learned that from personal experience.Overall the value is great, the netting is plastic coated making hook removal a breeze, and the netting is small enough for your kids/grandkids/nephews/nieces etc to catch all the small little fish swimming between your toes.

Deep enough for catching frogs without them jumping out! (Haven't used it for fish, yet, but soon...)(I caught 11 in one night so that I could move them away from one pond.)
