5 stars for the design but with one flaw
Unlike the video, the sand doesn't stay at the top. In mine, it has a hole in it (hello, quality control much?), and the sand keeps leaking.Edit: after watching the video for a while, I realized it was a picture, not a video. Very misleading!Edit2: Someone told me it was a timer. Mind blown.

Cute but functional
It is a 10 minute timer and it is accurate. The bell seems to be made of glass and the top and bottom are plastic. It feels like a toy, but a substantial one. I anticipate that this hourglass will last for many years, far longer than my son will be interested in it, for sure.

Simple, durable, sometimes gets stuck.
Clean, simple design. Unnecessary lettering on the glass, but I was able to remove most of it with a razor blade. The sand does occasionally get stuck, which can be frustrating. However, most of the time it works well. We use this to time our morning and evening routines so that we can remember to take our time; a timer without an alarm is ideal for peace of mind, and this sand timer has worked perfectly for that goal.

Blockages cause inconsistency for timing.
We purchased this timer to help keep our 7 year old on task (she loves the feeling of accomplishment and independence with the 1, 2, and 5 minute timers we purchased previously). This timer is inconsistent. At times it has a blockage, causing the flow to stop completely. We have to set a backup timer...which defeats the purpose of using this visual aid.

Effective mobile glass timers for kids
We use these for school and homework time as well as brushing teeth and any other timed activity (eating, cleanup, music practice)Great colors. Two of the colors get a little stuck...i think the inside of the glass either has static or a roughness to it so the sand stops with a minute or so to go.

Just what we were looking for
My Grandson and I were in a gift shop. He saw the "Hourglass" and was intrigued. However I was not intrigued with the price. At least double what the price is here. I purchased it here for him and he was ecstatic. We use it every day. 30 minutes before bedtime. He sets up his hourglass and gets in bed. He knows that when it's empty it is time for him to turn off his TV and go to bed. Great for teaching him time management.
