3M Littmann Cardiology IV Diagnostic Stethoscope, 6152, More Than 2X as Loud, Weighs Less, Stainless Steel Chestpiece, 27' Black Tube

I ordered in black and pink. Returning the pink (it’s a bubble gum pink, looks cheap). The Cardiology IV (black) is an upgrade from my 1992 Cardiology II (burgundy). The acoustics of both are excellent. The weight about the same. The IV replacement parts fit the II. The diaphragm and bell are built differently (see pics). The II has natural rubber tubing. The IV is a synthetic material, pretty flexible, feels a bit sticky on the skin.I really love the IV but was so happy to be able the restore my old II. The rim, seals, earpieces dry rot over time. The tubing hasn’t deteriorated at all. I ordered Littmann Cardiology IV replacement parts on Amazon and luckily they fit the II just fine. I’m super happy to have my old scope up and running again. Plan to use for charity medical clinics and the new one for cardio specifically needs.

Excellent quality stethoscope. Durable, great for breath and heart sounds.

I have used many stethoscopes at work, some Littman and some not. Out of all of them, my Cardiology IV has held up for YEARS. I got mine as a medical student and, more than 10 years later, it is still getting the job done. If you are able to spend the money, this is a wonderful investment for incoming medical students.

I used a cardiology III through all my training and first few years after. When mine finally broke, my wife bought me this newer model, cardiology IV. I scoffed at the idea of a newer acoustic stethoscope, I scoffed at the box when it arrived, then I about lept back when I rounded on my first patient of the day. It easily sounded 30% louder than my old one. I haven't had as much fun with a stethoscope since my first day of medical school. "Hey Mr FEV1 of 0.7, you have breath sounds today!"That sensation lasted about 7-10 days, and now it sounds normal again (and my wife's cardiology III sounds particularly dull). This leads me to conclude that either our long-used stethoscopes lost significant acoustic performance, which seems unlikely but I just haven't had a "new" cardiology III to try in a while, or this newer model really does enhance acoustics significantly.As a side note, there's a common myth that if you train with a crummy stethoscope, you'll be that much better with a good one. This is simply untrue. If you go through all of training unable to appreciate the sounds being pointed out to you, and hence unable to identify them yourself, a good stethoscope at graduation won't save you from being crummy with a stethoscope.

Great stethescope, however the diaphragms loosen up and fall off over time.

I could hear my heart murmur so clearly! Never before have I heard my heartbeat so easily! I splurged on this purchase because I wanted the best and it has not disappointed. I have no doubt there are models out there just as clear but I wanted the best off the top. I’m having open heart surgery soon and wanted to hear my unique heartbeat before it is forever changed. This stethoscope is amazing!

Bought this stethoscope for a friend as a graduation gift. After a lot of research and conversations with other healthcare friends, it was unanimous that this is a great stethoscope for healthcare professionals in the field.
