Is the 4 panel capable of being hung on a wall instead of standing? If it is used standing, will it be sturdy on carpet as opposed to hard wood floor?

If you built brackets for it, I would think you could attach to wall but it is not meant to. I have had it standing on area rug and it stands just fine but certainly hard wood floor is prime.

What is the screen made of and would it offer any sound buffering?

This screen is made out of a thick artist canvas. It will provide some limited sound buffering but is not sound proof.

Will this divider be able to steady itself on carpet??

I have mine on carpet and have no problems. I use it to divide my office space so I move it everyday.

What is the picture on the reverse side?

If you look at the small picture icons next to the main product picture, the second and fourth one will show you what's on the other side. A rocky stream.
