First time trying Lapsang. Bold character yet bright and lively. This tea snob thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’m new to smoky tea. I enjoyed this one. It’s like a regular, very slightly sweet, black tea but it smells like drinking at a campfire. Very pleasant for a weekend morning in the fall.

Upon opening the bag I smelled a light smoke aroma. At first I was disappointed that the smoke wasn't stronger. After drinking a few cups I feel that the smokiness is perfect. Any stronger and it would overpower the tea and assault the senses. Leaf sizes are a bit on the broken and small side.

Like some others here, I was a huge fan of Peet's Laspang Souchong. Super smokey, but sweet. A fantastic winter afternoon tea.I'd hoped this would replace it. While it's quite lovely as all Tealyra teas seem to be, it's not the same as the one I loved from Peets.The search continues. This might be great for someone who doesn't like the smokiest peetiest of Isley scotch (like I do) but for me, it's not one I'd likely re-order from them.

When I first tasted Lapsang Suchong I was surprised by that smokey pitch-like flavor and I really liked it. It was exotic and I liked the fact that that not everyone wanted this tea. I bought a tin of Lapsang Souchong from Pete's coffee and really enjoyed that tea. I used it up and went to buy more but they no longer carried it. I went online and found several sellers and began trying theirs. They tasted pretty good but nothing had that strong pitch-pine flavor. This one comes closest to what I sought but the flavor is mild compared to what I remember. It makes a good cup of tea and it brews to a beautiful red color in a clear glass.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this tea is less smoky than a good Lapsang Souchong should be. It yields a civilized light brew but if you are interested in a smokier taste, as I am, you should look elsewhere, as I will.

I was looking for a smoky Lapsang Souchong. This was not it.

Smoke flavour is strong, yet the tea doesn't feel overpowered.Bought this for the Tarry label and wished it was a bit more smokey, still looking for that super smoke tea, but was super impressed by the amount of smoke and still a nice complex flavour underneath. No less smoky than any of the others I have in the cupboard, but would buy again over a lot of them. For context I love a heavy peated scotch and my wife thinks this is very smokey. So if you are new to smokey flavours I don't think this will come across as mild.

If you are llooking for that smoky punch then this tea is not for you. There;s a hint of pine smoke there but it's quite mellow. Having said that it's quite rich and flavorful and I quite enjoy it. A tea seller one time told me that some really smoky teas are actually not that good and the smoke is trying to hide that fact. So with this brand that could be the case. Worth a try for sure and I needed a change from really smoky anyway.

Tea has very little if any smoke. no smoke smell from leaves in freshly open bag. would not but again

I first heard of this tea in James Michener's book (Centennial) had to try it. I believe it has a flavor that will captivate ones taste, as I have only had 2 cups as yet.
