Very handsome Hiking Boot of great quality!
I purchased these hiking boots for husband, who wore out his old pair of a different brand, and he loves them! I always, always, always read reviews from others who've purchased the product I'm looking to buy and I'm glad I did. There is very informative information provided by reviewers on this particular boot and I took their suggestions and their experience and it served me well.My husband has a narrow foot but it is so rare we can find boots in a narrow width without spending a fortune. However, these boots are a "normal" medium width so with a thicker sock, they actually fit him quite nicely. And please take note of others comments/suggestions to size up! My husband always wears a size 8; no exception! But given what others stated about the sizing and their experience that when ordering their regular size they find their toes right up against the toe of the boot, I opted to order a size 8-1/2 and am glad I did! My husband will be wearing these hiking boots primarily in the colder months (which is a good part of the year here in Wisconsin!) so he will also be wearing thicker socks. When he tried these on, a size 8-1/2 / medium width, they fit perfect. These are also a high quality boot. And, I might mention, were half the price of the hiking boots I purchased for him about 10 years ago! He had been in the military and has worn Hi-Tec in the past so he was familiar with the brand. He looked them over, very closely, for any defect and could find none. He loves the color and the support. Again, as one other reviewer stated...the laces are very thick and not likely to keep the boot tied if simply tying them with a regular bow-knot. Instead of going out and purchasing different laces, I suggested he simply double-knot them (I do on every pair of shoes/boots I own) and that took care of the problem. He wore them the rest of the day and they never became un-tied nor did he have sore feet from new boots! He hasn't tested out the waterproof feature yet but he has no plans to go puddle-jumping either. But the snow will fly soon enough here and they'll be tested then. If we find the boots do not deliver on this feature, I'll certainly update my review. In my opinion, these are very handsome hiking boots and I've no doubt he'll get plenty of use from them. The price is awesome, they are high quality and the traction looks very serious; no slipping expected with these!

and for occasional bad weather (rainy days
So I got these to hike in, and for occasional bad weather (rainy days, and we'll see about how they handle the winter this year in New England). I also got them in part because I wear large shoes, and they were at a reasonable price. I've now had them for about 5 months.Overall, I'm quite happy with them. I've worn them at work, where I'm on my feet for most of a 9 hour day, and out in the rain a bit. I haven't tried hiking yet or in cold weather, but they're fairly comfortable and well made. My feet felt best when wearing thick, wool hiking socks, since that provides extra padding. I also feel they're best when tied tight. I wasn't a huge fan of the laces, which don't provide a lot of slack, and the hooks at the top are little uneven, but those are very minor things. So far, they are also a little stiff, but will hopefully break in and loosen up a slight bit over time. For the price, I'm quite happy with them. This could change once I've used them more, and gone through a full year of seasons and weather, but I doubt it. It seems like the outsides are well made, and the inside as well. I might try out some version of insole inserts to improve the arch support and bottom of the foot comfort, but I often do this with shoes. I would recommend, and think they are a good value.

Super comfy, nicely made. Order one half size up.
Just received them today and although its an initial, one day assessment, i couldn't be happier with this purchase! Price was almost stupid low and with free shipping. First impression is a very well made, extremely comfortable hiking boot that I'll be able to wear all day long. I'm not a hardcore hiker, I wear shoes like these all the time unless wearing dress shoes. I do lots of fishing and upland hunting so they will get their fare share of trails, fields, etc but not what anyone would call "hiking". Inside of the boot is very soft and has nice padding but seems to have decent ankle support. Couple of notes..other reviewers mentioned they seem to run small so I ordered a half size up and they were right. The half size up from my usual size fits like it was made for me. Next is the width…I normally take a 3E or 4E so I have problems finding shoes. The item description said 3E but when they came the box simply says W which worried me since that usually means E or EE but they are perfect. Time will tell how well they hold up but at this price if the last 6 months its still a steal.

A nice pair of boots for the price.
The long story short, these boots are awesome!Like other reviewers recommended I did by the boot one size larger than I normally wear and they fit just fine.Out of the box I wasn't sure I liked them. The wide ankles seemed to be too wide and unlike others who had said the soles were comfortable out of the box mine were less than comfortable. Not bad, but less comfortable than I was expecting. This being said I needed the boots for a casual trip I was taking and my old boots were worn through so I decided to stick with them and I AM GLAD THAT I DID!!After about two weeks the soles broke in and they are now very comfortable for me. Also I happened to be walking through some snow and I realized that snow wasn't getting into my boots from the gap between the boot and my jeans like it did with the old pair. I quickly realized that this was because of that wide ankle that I had not liked initially. I soon realized that the wide ankles would be useful for the many things a person might be doing while wearing these boots. Only time will tell, but these might be the best pair of boots I've ever owned.

Good quality low price. Not for super hard duty.
Bought these as my EDC wear during the rainy season. So far I am quite satisfied. Very affordably price and decent quality. Haven't yet experienced one of the lace hooks snapping. But from my experience the laces are on the short side. Sole feels pretty solid (no cost cutting voids or spaces) and good traction on slippery surfaces. These boots are indeed water-resistant, you can tell by how moist your feet feel after a long days work. And it's not from water ingress. As far as sizing goes I'm about 8.5 US and it is indeed spot on fit for the 8.5 size. If laces are too loose my toes uncomfortably smassh into the shoe with every step, not good. Next time I'd get a half size larger so I can have some flexibility in the wear.

Comfortable Well Made boots.
I purchased the Hi-Tec Men's Bandera Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot in the wide width for my adult son who is a truck driver. He likes the Hi-Tec boots because they are made of leather and this allows for more breathablility for his feet. He has a wider foot so he always gets a wide boot which is comfortable for him without having his feet scrunched up. He also says he can even get a thicker pair of winter socks on with the boots and still be comfortable. The rubber over the tops of the toe areas is great because this is the area of boot/shoe that takes a beating when driving so many hours. The waterproof boot keeps his feet dry going out in all types of weather. The thicker sole is comfortable and the boots are made well and last long. The laces stay tied and are not coated with all that slippery plastic coating like so many other laces are. He was so happy with these boots that I ordered another pair for him to "put away" and also ordered my teenage grandson 2 pairs as he likes these boots for school because they help on the slippery wet floors at school (rain and snow) and as he says "they look cool with my jeans". I am very happy with these purchases.

Poor quality boots
I wore out a pair of Hi-Tec boots I bought 5 years ago; they were great boots, so I thought I would try the brand again. If this purchase is representative of Hi-Tec's current quality, I will never buy Hi-Tec boots again. They looked and felt good initially on some short break-in walks, but the first real hike showed their poor quality. The boots leaked and hurt my feet on a 15 mile hike. I could feel every rock on the trail through the bottom of the boot! An examination at home revealed the tread/sole is not solid, but a hollow injection mold that is about 1/8 of an inch thick. Inside the boot it feels like a waffle iron, as the inner surface of the sole is not covered with a permanent insole. The only thing between the corrugated surface and the bottom of your foot is the supposedly waterproof liner and a cheap, thin foam insole. I will try a good $20 insole to see if I can still use them, but I am afraid I have wasted my money on these boots. These boots might be good for light walking, or working in the yard, but they ARE NOT HIKING BOOTS!Update: After a summer and fall hiking and trying to like these boots I have given up. Both boots began to leak and the thin tread has begun to wear through to the hollow space inside the sole. These are not boots for anyone who wants to do some serious walking. I will buy a decent pair from Merrill or Vasque for next year.

Pretty good boot!
Purchased a half size up as I was going to put in fancy insoles. They do fit well with the larger insoles. As other reviewers have stated the top lace hooks do seem a little flimsy though one week in none have broken or bent. I do not find, as some reviews state, that the treads are super thin. My sole issue at this point with this boot is that they are heavy, I bought these for work and am replacing a pair that are super light (and unfortunately not built to last) still getting used to the additional heft.UPDATE 5/23/18: After 8 months of nearly everyday use, all lace hooks are still intact but are starting to bow out. bottom tread is starting to lift on both boots, absolutely no issues with the upper construction to date. STILL HEAVY!

Quality hiking boots won’t put a dent on your wallet
Reading some reviews here about the size issues worrying me but thank god mine arrived with correct size and 100% fit.Used to have couple pairs of hiking boots like Timberland and Columbia, they are all expensive and don’t last long. This pair of Hi-Tec was purchased in June and I decided to write review after five walks of trails with different terrain and weather. After five times of wearing, I can really conclude that this pair of hiking boots by far is likely the best one I can have given the money I spent on it. In terms of comfort, my feet don’t feel tired and fatigue after two to three hours non-stop walking on muddy and rocky terrain, while my feet remain warm and dry.The only improvement I can think of is the type of shoelace that the boots come with; the shoelace is very easy to loose no matter how tight I tied.
