Amazon Basics Room Darkening Blackout Window Curtain with Rod Pocket and Tie Back, 52 x 84 Inches, Black - Set of 2

OK, I wanted to wait until the curtains were hung to see what the hype was all about. My bedroom is the portal to hades and is easily 5 or more degrees hotter than what our thermostat is set. In the summertime I keep my curtains closed and my fan is always on full blast yet the temperature never goes below 83° even though the thermostat is set around 78°. Over the past 15 years, I’ve had other room darkening curtains from Walmart but the light would creep through and of course that would make my room bright as well as hot. They sucked big time but I figured I’d use them till I got sick of them and when menopause hit, I got sick of them really fast. The first thing I noticed about these awesome, new curtains is the light does not come through like with the old ones, but it does come through the top and sides so I try to keep them pinned to the wall so that minimal light comes through from the sides. They also feel kinda silky, which is nice, since hated the texture of the old curtains that were there before. I got the dark grey (they’re not too dark and not too light), they’re beautiful and won’t show the dust like the ugly brown ones that were hanging there before. They actually brighten up my room whereas the brown made it dingy and bleak. Yes there are creases in these new curtains from where they were folded, but that doesn’t bother me since all I care about is keeping the house cooler. During the hottest part of the day the temperature in my room gets as high as 83.8°, but right now it is the hottest part of the day and the temperature is bouncing between 81.7 and 82° without my fan being on. That may not seem like much but it is HUGE for me since they’ve only been up for 20 minutes or so and the temperature before hanging them was 83.2. Honestly I was ready to put aluminum foil on my windows to keep from going broke paying the electric bill since it’s been one hot summer. On a scale from 1 - 10, I’ll give them an 8. I’ll update my review within the next couple days. If these new curtains can get my room to stay under 80° during the day, I’d be so happy and change my rating from 4 stars to 5.

Update: I originally ordered the beige curtains but the rod pockets were a bit hard to pull so I ordered the white grommet ones (beige wasn’t available). I will be sending the white back because for one, they arrived with some stains but also because the white color is too bright for the many cream and brown colors in the room. They are a very true pure white. I thought that I would would like the grommets better but they seemed more shower curtain like as some others have noted. This may be worsened by the fact that my curtain rods are a matte aged brass color and the plastic grommets are silver colored so they really stand out. Regardless, I am so glad that I opted to raise the curtains up to ceiling height. It makes the ceiling look so much taller.Grommets - pros - super easy to move and less light comes through at sides and middle; cons- may not match your rod, they aren’t as aesthetically appealing in my opinion, and light comes through the grommetsOriginal review:I chose these for bedroom over other curtains because they were OEKO-TEX certified, blackout, and affordable. They are wrinkled as others have said but I don’t think that many people realize that wrinkle free treatments applied to fabric such as clothes and curtains generally contain carcinogenic chemicals. I would rather the curtains have wrinkles than a questionable chemical finish. I plan to use a steamer on them. One thing I do wish is that they had 42x96 curtains. Right now, none are available.

The ProsSo I bought these because the PB blackout ones I purchased a few years ago were tough to wash, heavy and needed excessive ironing or dry cleaning i tend to wash them 2x per year.The PB cotton/linen ones created a lot of fabric dust in the room, which was always covering my furniture and floors.What I did not expect is how superior Amazon ones would be at blocking the sun and they are "Standard 100 Oeko-Tex" so it was a win win. Nothing blocks out perfectly unless you use multiple layers of blackout shades and heavy black lined curtains. My rooms have sliding doors and I am not a fan of vertical shades or of black lining facing the outside.Purchased a set in beige and I really like the shade of beige. Not too creamy beige. Bought a set for another room in light gray and it is perfect since I prefer lighter curtains so they don't interfere with other decorations.A lot less expensive than PB blackout curtains. I mean a lot lot less.The ConsFabric is insanely wrinkled and I have a great steam iron that has always worked to perfection. I washed them first and steam ironed them at the highest setting and I could not get most of the hard ingrained wrinkles out.The fabric is mehhh. Very plain and canvas like.Not a deal breaker because they still look fine when hung up and they block out the sun. Found a comparable set at another store that does not have the cons listed above and uses the same "Standard 100 Oeko-Tex standard. Will keep the Amazon ones for now.

I used to buy this Amazon Basics 84" darkening curtain set in a 4 pack. The beige gray color has changed slightly in tone in this 2 pack. As long as they're in different rooms, the colors are similar enough.I use these curtains with rings on a 1" rod. I don't usually wash before putting them up, the wrinkles take a little while to fall out.Just enough darkening for what I'm looking for so I'll probably be buying a few more sets as I slowly replace the many window treatments in the house.Amazon Basics Room Darkening Blackout Window Curtain with Tie Back, 52 x 84 Inches, Grey Beige - Set of 2

This is a great product, exactly as described, and they look great. A true navy color with no purple undertones. True to size.

These do a great job keeping both the light and heat out. I ordered beige but they look more like a very pail grey. I love them and recommend them.

I will definitely be buying more of theses in different colors they are strong thick an better then any Iv gotten on this website an my first time ordering from this particular company on Amazon love them !!!!

These curtains were perfect for the main bedroom in my house. The window is 7' high x 8' wide. There was an existing wooden curtain pole. Surprisingly, the metal rings glide over the wooden pole easily. I was under the impression that metal curtain eyelets required a metal pole. I purchased 4 smaller curtains as they are easier to pull across the wooden pole than 2 larger curtains. When in the open position, the curtains can be pushed to the side into a very small area, thereby giving a better view out of the window. The photo online looks like the curtains have a slight pale blue appearance but in reality, they do not. They are what I would call a lovely light shade of dove grey, a neutral colour which should suit most bedrooms. All the curtain rods in my house are wood so to make the metal rings easier to slide across, I cleaned the rods first then rubbed a small quantity of shea butter cream over the surface to make it a bit slippery then rubbed that in with a dry cloth so there was minimal residual. I changed every set of pencil pleat curtains to metal eyelet ones. I got exactly the look I wanted. Because there is no bulky tracking system on the pole, the curtains push along, close up and open up very easily and cleanly. The cost of these type curtains is very minimal compared with what I had previously. If the fabric was not synthetic, they would be perfect but I haven't found a chemical free curtain yet at a reasonable price. This particular set was maybe slightly thicker than the rest of my house as I purchased on ebay previously and the edges need a little adjusting to get to sit together but that's not a big issue nor deal breaker. I think I paid somewhere under $50 for them which covers quite a large window. I am happy with the product and would recommend. Some online complained about the wrinkles in the curtains not being able to be smoothed out. Yes, that is true, being a 100% synthetic product but in a bedroom, it's not a big issue. What I have done with every curtain I buy is wash on a gentle cycle and put the spin at say, 600, which makes them slightly dripping when they come out. I close the window, clean the area and hang them like that in the open position and they dry like that with folded towels underneath to get any water drips. Some wrinkles come out, some do not. Overall, they do a great job, are a lovely neutral colour, are lightweight, easy to handle on the wooden pole and I would recommend these if you want something cost effective to give a blockout effect.

Yo ordene las cortinas aunque dude mucho en hacerlo, ya que muchas personas comentan sobre que es dificil borras las arrugas que trae la cortina pero quise apostar aun asi. Aqui va mi reseña.Dire que cuando llegaron lo primero que hice fue ver como se sentian, la tela es gruesa, no son 100% blackout pero diria que son un 90% depende de que tanto luz reciba la ventana. Podria decir que el material se siente bien, casi como como si fuera tela de impermiable. Al colgarlas sin plancharlas, las cortinas lucian como si fueran dos sabanas, en ese momento pense en devolverlas.El color me gusto, dire que si eres una persona que busca un color blanco puro definitamente estas NO son las cortinas, ya que el color es un color blanco grisaceo ideal para la decoracion en mi casa.Antes de tomar la decision de regresarlas, las planche para ver si cambiaba de opinión y debo decir que si es dificil borrar las marcas de los dobleces, a pesar de que les dedique tiempo algunas marcas no se borraron, sin embargo han pasado ya dos dias y estan han ido desapareciendo. Lo que me hizo quedarmelas definitamente fue el bolsillo para barra, trae 2, uno grueso y otro delgado, al principio las meti en el grueso pero eso hacia que hubiera en olan que no me agradaba a la vista. Lo meti en el degaldo despues pensando que la barra de mi cortina no iba entrar pero mi sopresa fue que si entro y se veian mis veces mejor las cortinas.Por ahora estoy en busca de comprar un velo para poder colocarla en medio de estas dos, el que aparece en la foto esta muy pequeño. Espero que mientras mas pase el tiempo estas marcas vayan desaparecinedo, estoy satisfecha con mi compra. Las recomiendo si eres una persona que acepta el hecho de las marcas inborrables.
