Eden Organic Gomasio, Sesame Seeds and Sea Salt, Umami, Traditional, Furikake, Seasoning, Macrobiotic, 3.5 oz (2-Pack)

This is just great for any rice dish. I like to have cooked rice and cooked quinoa on hand. Then take pan and dice up variety of vegetables and cook in pan then add the rice and quinoa and stir together. Very quick meal and just add some canned or roasted chicken or egg or even Spam chunks into the rice. Then season with this and it is a great tasting meal. I know Spam is questionable but sometimes I just crave that weird salty stuff. I first cook it in separate little fry pan after cutting in little chunks. Haven't found the person who can resist it yet.

I have been using gomasio for more than 40 years. One of my favorite seasonsings. ANd I have purchased this brand several times, always happy with it. But this time, the sesame seeds were whole...not ground. So the flavor does not carry into the food as well and it's just not as good. I'm not sure what happened. Did you forget to grind the seeds? Did you change the recipe? Is this a different variation that I got accidentally? Anyhow, I will still use it but I'm not happy with it. I can always add my own seeds when I want that extra crunch but I like the gomasio to be ground as usual. And I guess I could grind it myself, as I have done when I couldn't find it anywhere, but I pay for the convenience of not having to make my own.

Nothing to dislike

It has an odd taste. Something other than sesame seeds and salt, slightly bitter.

I chose Eden brand because it is usually very trustworthy, even though this is pretty expensive. But I am disappointed in this gomashio. I lived in Japan for 2-1/2 years, so I was used to the good, authentic stuff we got there, and can no longer find in the US. We now live in a small high-mountain-valley town, so Asian groceries are far away, and I couldn't find any gomashio there either. The Eden brand roast is not deep enough, so the rich toasted flavor is missing. It isn't salted enough for my taste. The grind is too fine, not enough whole seeds left. I love green beans topped with a good GF soy sauce and a sprinkle of gomashio. Could hardly taste the latter. I think I shall try making my own from an excellent YouTube video.

This is an easy to use product. Unlike sesame oil which has a strong flavor you will not over do it with this product. I use both.

I used Gamasio all through the seventies. One day I went searching to see if it was still around and there it was on Amazon! Still delicious and healthy too
