This item is well-crafted. The latch, lid, and hinges are all a good fit.It is made of thin, rigid plastic. The straps are painted with black/gold to give it an antique look. If handled with care it is a nice product. Kids would likely stress the hinges if this were to be used for play, I think the hinges would eventually break as the plastic is not super sturdy. It is not action-figure quality. The siding would likely crack or fracture with impact.The clear sides are nice, because you can fill it with cool little bits of things, and see the contents from any angle. You can also but panels or pictures inside, to give the chest a customized look. As example, you can cut some popsicle stick-planks, stain them, and put them inside to give it a classic wood look. You could print a wood-grain design and cut to fit. Your imagination is the limit.I don't know if the plastic or paints would be toxic to fish or reptiles, but it would look pretty cool in a terrarium!

Value for the price is good. I was looking for an idea for a Christmas present to hold a gift card. The jewels added a nice touch plus I bought several little things to fill out the chest e.g. a small geode, small sharks tooth - things like that. In other words, the chest magnifies a plain vanilla gift card which by themselves are not very exciting to open on Christmas morning. The recipient loved it.

This was a very small treasure box. I bought it to use as Fridays prize box for my Kinder Class. Soo small, I couldn’t fit in it enough toys for the best table of 6.

My own fault for not reading the size but make sure it’s what you’re looking for. Very cute but would be too small for school treasure chests and I’m a bit surprised at the price for such a small box.

For all the parents out there. I highly recommend this for Treasure Hunts. Make a map of your house/yard/area you plan to use. Draw pictures of objects/land marks and put dotted lines like a real treasure map and put this treasure chest where the X should be. Fill this chest with chocolate coins/candy/toys (I prefer using candy as all kids love candy, but if you don't want sugar for your kids then use toys or other fun/useful objects that are small enough to fit in the chest.). They have so much fun doing these treasure hunts. If they're struggling, then help them out and get them used to reading the map. Once they see the rewards, their eyes light up. I hope I inspired some parents ^_^ HAVE FUN. Family time is very important to the little ones so do as much as you can with them so they grow up positively knowing their family loves them.

Parents were happy that they could control their candy consumption by locking chest, girls luved that when candy was gone they could put treasures in it.
