This valve although made from plastic, is very study and very thick. You will need at least a 1.5 inch hole saw to install. The shut off valve operates very smoothly. I liked that I only need one wrench to install - as it makes the process much easier. Tips when installing: remove the gasket and wrap teflon tape generously around the threads then replace the gasket. Do the same same for the threads on the valve piece. Since I was attaching it to curved surface (55 gallon plastic barrel), I was worried that I would have trouble making a leak proof seal, but the teflon tape makes all the difference. Time will tell how long it lasts outdoors in the sun, but the build quality gives me confidence.

Overall, the product is much sturdier than expected, and does not leak at all when assembled correctly, including using plumbers tape on the spigot attachment.However, what keeps it from being five stars is that when I opened the package, I had to use a set of wrenches and WD40 to separate the bulkhead pieces because they were stuck together so tightly.

Everybody that collects rainwater for laundry and garden needs to invest in these fittings for their rain barrels. easy to install, don't leak. Metal ones would be more sturdy, but the cost is so much higher than these. I'm happy and will probably buy more if the need arises.

Used for a DIY rain barrel I made out of a garbage pail from Ace. Those barrels can get expensive!Works awesome and WAY less than other options at the big box stores or Amazon.When I first installed it did leak but that ended up being user error. I reinstalled and wrenched it TIGHT and no leaks!

It worked great on my water barrel however it needs a gasket on the valve threads, even with loads of thread sealant i still had a drip. I put an o ring on it and that stopped the leak.

I needed a spicket on a rain barrel. This was economical, easy to instal, and its working just fine.
