Completes the Drill Press

Along with laser alignment the milling machine worktable completes a drill press. C-clamps were such a hassle, I didn't think I was going win by investing in a drill press. Now I can clamp the workpiece in at my leisure, switch on the laser light crosshairs, and accurately move the workpiece into position with the vernier dials of the milling machine worktable. All three should be sold as a bundle: drill press, milling machine worktable, and laser alignment accessory.

Easy fix

I give it a 4. Gotta admit it is sloppy out of the box. A Lot of backlash but thats an easy fix.. I have it on a little 8 inch desktop drill press. Its only for small stuff. say 3x9 inches with plenty of room for clamping. I wanted to mark all my holes then clamp it down once and dial them in to the drill bit. I make small custom RC and model Train hobby parts. I said the fix is easy but tedious. Worst part is u gotta take it all apart the first time. The screw coupler is real loose in the casting of the block. The treads in the coupler are also loose. My fix is the wrap the screws and the coupler up with a few layers of Teflon pipe tape. As the Teflon wears off, just pop the top covers and turn it over to wrap the screws as needed. This is not something I use every day so it last me a long time. My next project will be to cut the right size coupler with tighter threads lol.

Smaller than pictured, .60" of backlash, very light

This thing is tiny, it's smaller than what pictured. Feels very light, the base looks small, not sure if it'll fit on my drill press. The adjustment know have a lot of backlash, about .60" of backlash. Not sure to keep it or return it. 🤔🤔🤔🤔

That it has good quality for the price.

It works as it should.

Great for laser engraving

This is a cost effective solution for a two axis adjustable table for very light milling. I’m using this under my laser engraver at a fraction of the cost of the X-y tables marketed for that

Better than a drill press vise.

Better than a drill press vise. I had a drill press vise two access shiftable one. That cost about a hundred bucks. But it never held things well while drilling and would jam up with shavings. For $35 this table was great and I don't think as much room for improvement other than that offering a much bigger one would be nice. But I don't need much more than this. It has great clamp down ability. I wish I had M8 wing nuts though But this works for me just fine with a wrench and some extended couplers. I like that the drive screws have shielding to protect it from fouling

Works as it shoukd

Not a heavy duty precision slide, but not priced or intended to be one. Worked well for some light cutting that I needed to do after tightening up the adjustments. Would not be rigid enough for heavier cutting.

Oh Boy.. worse than expected.

I tossed the coin on this intending lightweight use. Essentially tired of manual trim of long electronic connector strips and/or cutting them to length. Picture something like a dremel with a saw/abrasive blade in a horizontal milling setup. Out of the box I found factory dings and scratches in the table which was the first clue it wasn't going to go well. Then the gibs kept sliding out of the dovetails when I took up the play in the table ways. Well I could fix that with a drill recess where the gib screws meet them. But the brass gibs are sandwiched between the anodized surfaces (IOW aluminum oxide as in sandpaper abrasive). Thought there would be a steel strip set into the table way where it met the gib to avoid sliding on aluminum oxide, but no dice. And there isn't a bearing in the thing. Plain steel washers (with no lube I could discern) on the axis screws pre-loaded with a nylock. And plain 60* threaded rod -- no Acme threads here. The handwheels are blind roll pinned to the screws so good luck if you intend to modify that. I really wanted to justify keeping this for the intended purpose at my electronic bench vs. trudging to conventional mills in my shop. Would be a welcome clean/dry machining use, lightweight solution easily be stashed out of the way even setup with a horizontal mill head. But sadly its just too mickey mouse to stomach all the corners cut in this thing. By the time I'd have this where I want it I'd be better off with a micro CNC setup which would probably be better anyway for automated repetitive milling needed for building custom connectors.
