A decent, inexpensive laptop. Good for what I do.

I'm a writer and student and use non-MS programs so I could not get a Chromebook. I also needed a laptop so I had a way to write or research when I was travelling. I have a large desktop "work" computer where most of my work is done. I had a similar HP laptop but the keyboard and touch pad went out and I expect that those two things are the weakest link in any laptop. Buy a silicon key cover to make the life of your keyboard last, but these laptops, on average last abut 2-3 years. Another thing that will make the computer last longer is to get a USB mouse to avoid using the track pad.About the only difference between the new and the old HPs was that this had 4G of RAM and the other had 8G of RAM. This Stream is definitely good at not seizing or lurching when you watch a movie or video. The other additive that Microsoft has put on this computer is the "Windows 10-S." It is easy to get out of, and there is a toggle to change the program to "Windows 11 Home," which is more capable of evading corporate MS's iron handed ownership of my computer. The instructions are online and they send a large postcard with the computer which also has instructions. It is just a matter of going into "settings" and changing it.I do not mind the PC and MS "marriage" but I do not want a computer that tells me I can only use their programs which happened with Chromebook. This one is constantly asking (begging) me to turn on my Cloud service, and turn on other MS Programs. I do not do any of that, and I do not want to send my work to the cloud (When I import it into the big machine I will). I like that it has an extra USB port. Otherwise it is pretty basic and reminds me of Chromebook, (which I like but cannot use because of the non-MS proprietary writing programs I use).As far as using it for entertainment or videos, the sound is nice and loud (but not blasting) the picture is great, and it does not buffer endlessly-- but that may be my internet service. My overall opinion is "nice." It is a good computer for Students or Writers who do not want or need to spend $1000 on top of the line equipment. Nope. this is just a "tuck it in the bag and go" type computer.

Amazing!

I've only had it for 3 days now but I love everything about it so far!First of all the appearance: I love the color; it's a metallic pink that almost looks silver, but the keyboard's pink is much more noticeably pink. The letters on the keyboard itself are large and easy to read. There were a few minor scratches on the outside of mine but the inside is pristine.Moving on to sound: The keys are relatively quiet when you type on them, but the space bar is a bit too loud in my opinion. I've only used it for roughly four hours so far but I haven't heard any loud air vents coming from it.One side note I'd like to mention real quick though is that when I was setting everything up, it was really pushing me to sign up for a bunch of Microsoft related products which I found a little annoying. I prefer using Google for browsing which is completely free whereas the Microsoft stuff would have charged me after one year of usage(I believe it was a year). And finally performance: Like practically every other laptop, this one takes a minute or two to really start working properly when you initially turn it on. I've only really used it for typing so I haven't really dived into browsing the web, but I can confidently say that the keys are immediately responsive when I type anything out. I haven't had any issues with it running slow as of yet.The battery life is very good. I had it on the highest brightness while using it outside for a few hours and it only dropped to 88% where it was originally charged to 100.One final thing I'd like to mention is that I absolutely love the screen! I bought this to work on my novel outside and while I always try to work in the shade, the sun can be a little pesky, however the screen is mostly opaque and has little to no reflection - making it the perfect laptop to use outside!Anyway, if this laptop is still available to order, I highly recommend it if you plan on using it for work!

Great for simple uses

Slow sometimes but overall a great computer for simple tasks like schoolwork. Still use it and it’s been a couple years since I bought it.

The Machine Hard Sells You 1000 services. You have Zero Agency. You are Just the Hard Sell Target

You are PURELY the target for the Machine to HARD SELL you various so-called services.I paid a lot of money hoping to use this to take notes.I cannot do that. The MACHINE wants to HARD SELL me the ability to write a note. Then for MORE MONEY, to save my note. Then if I pay MORE MONEY, I could see my note again.I have to have all manner of secret passcodes and PIN numbers, to get to my note. With Mobi. I need an account there too.If your life is way too simple and you want to make it extremely complicated to write "The cat sat on the mat" and store that, and call if back up later --- this is the machine you want.It comes able to do nothing. All the software must be download. All the software is designed to grab money from you by selling you this account and then that account. Can't make a note, and get it back without going through many complicated steps. And putting in lots of secret numbers. And establishing accounts, with the money grabbers who want to send you a bill every month. All they want is all your money, all your data, and all your time.If those are things you want to get rid of and have less of, than this machine will take them off of you.I do not know that the machine can do any other thing than what it tried to do to me.If you are a circuit board engineer or a software programmer, there could be something in the machine you could use. But not for over $100.My Aspire One bought 20 years ago runs WORD totally clean. I can write a file, store it, and get it back.
