The Big Book of Decorative Painting: How to Paint If You Don'T Know How and How to Improve If You Do

Where oh where was this book 20 years ago. Sheesh. Any stroke you've seen, any technique... it's in here. Anything you want to do with tole painting (or rosemaling, or whatever decorative painting you do) there is a concept and a technique in here to do it, broken down step by step for basic beginners, and practice will make you into an expert in no time. I LOVE THIS BOOK. I paint in miniature, often with tiny tiny brushes on dollhouse furniture or model railroading sets, and there are so few resources that I can adapt to this style of painting, but this book is my BIBLE for all the strokes I want to make, and I would rescue this book if the house caught fire, haha! Seriously thank you so much for putting all of this together, it boggles my mind how much work went into writing it.

Wow this is a great book. For beginners but anyone might be interested. Love her style of writing.Begins with color wheel, mixing paints, brushstrokes. Very good detail. Tells how to hold brush, buy supplies, gives encouragement.I'm confident that I will be able to paint after reading this book. It is a must buy if you want only one instructional book.

I've recently purchased a few decorative painting books but really, I could just have purchased this one, and this one alone -- that's how much information and technique is packed inside the pages! Great photos show exactly how to make brushstrokes, and how to fix whatever it is you might be doing less than perfectly. This weekend I'll start with the beginning exercises (I plan to start using this book as though I have never painted before). Delighted with the book, and I know it's one I'll refer to again and again!

This is one of the most informativel books I've ever read. Everything you need to know to get started on a decorative painting hobby.

I have her other book and like this one better. Much more depth for folks just starting out I bought one for me and a student, she loved it too.
