Is this a heavy case?

It's not heavy enough where you need help getting it out since it does have wheels to roll it.

can it go in airplane cargo bay as in a checked bag?

I would check measurement standard for checked bags to compare size.if it's within standards you should be ok.

Does it have 4 wheels? Does it roll smoothly？

with 4 detachable wheels easy smooth rolling

How sturdy are the wheels? I have a 15 block commute to work each day as an esthetician.

The wheels are sturdy and the way it is built it should withstand. Just be careful you do have a long commute and it will experience wear and tear.
