It's a substantial piece - meaning it has substance. the material it is made from is more like glass and it feels airtight. I bought three of these from games we have played for YEARS - Decades really. So the timers just wore out - sand was getting stuck. The old timers were also not quite ACCURATE when you flipped them, the time was off by 10 to 15 seconds. That is the FIRST thing we checked with this timer - the timing of both sides. Very Accurate. Very Pretty to be honest. (My only con is that it doesn't fit in the box for the game I using, but that doesn't matter as the box has been tossed years ago)

Who brushes their teeth for three minutes? (';') well, almost no one. I recently learned that if I want my tooth whitening tooth paste to work as advertised, I had to brush my teeth without adding water, for at least 3 minutes. Sure, I could count, look at my watch, set the kitchen alarm, BUT instead, I came across this 3 minute hour glass timer. it's large and easy to see. Side benefit, our grandson, in the past, barely put the tooth brush in his mouth before he was spitting everything out and rinsing as fast as he could go. Monkey see Monkey do... he took an interest in the timer and asked about it. One thing let do another and he's brushing longer while watching the sand drop. Win Win! I like it and it's accurate. My teeth are whiter, and grandson is learning some better brushing habits. Five Stars for a well made product that works. The sand never gets stuck!

The timer is great in that you can see that the sand is moving and that it keeps good time. However, due to the shape of the timer, there is always some residual sand that hasn't fallen when the timer is finished.

The shape of the hourglass and the blue sand are very attractive. I haven't rated the durability because I've only had it for a couple months but it certainly appears to be very solid.

This timer is awesome and helps my 10 yr old brush his teeth for a longer period! I love the quality!

I was pleased by its solidness. I was afraid it would be delicate and I purchased it to actually use daily in the kitchen. It is accurate and colorful. It times my muffin egg sandwiches perfectly.

Purchased this for my kindergarten classroom. I thought it would be durable since it was made of plastic. Unfortunately, it broke by lunchtime. It fell a short distance to the floor and broke depositing the sand all over the floor. Im disappointed.
