Aquascape AquaBasin 30 Fountain and Water Feature Basin for Landscape and Garden | 78223, Black, 27 gallon

For years I had our fountain sitting in a very small basin, supported only by bricks. I decided to do an upgrade and I chose the Aquascape 30 Fountain Basin. The installation was easy for any handy person, and it can easily support my heavy ceramic fountain even when it is filled with water and covered with rocks. The large access hole makes installing and maintaining the pump really easy and I also installed the optional automatic water fill valve so I don't have to think about the water level all the time. That also works perfectly. This basin holds about six times as much water as my previous basin, which will help to keep the water looking fresh and clear. I think this is a very well designed, great product.

The media could not be loaded. This basin worked great for my millstone granite fountain. My fountain is 24" wide, so the 30" size of the basin was perfect. The basin has a dedicated corner with a small door for easy access to the pump. The basin is very sturdy and had no trouble with the granite fountain. I couldn't be happier with the result.

Nice deal for a smaller waterfall or modest water feature. Sturdily made. If you have water run down into the basin and thus need a lining, it's a bit of a challenge to get the lining to work with the access panel because the panel is so close to the edge of the basin.

Overall, this is a good product. It is sturdy and supports quite a bit of weight, but I'm not so sure about the 500# capacity in use. It may support 500# if it is evenly distributed, but that is not practical for a fountain. I placed 3 drilled rocks(much less than 500#) and, as said in another review, the surface becomes a bit concave so it is no longer level across the top. This makes setting something upright a bit difficult. If you are only using one fountain in the center of the unit, that would probably be fine.I ended up taking the whole thing apart and redoing the base for the unit.So, to the recommendations:1. If you are going to have a bit of weight like I have with mine, you should support the middle of the unit, which has a square section in the center - I used four bricks set on their sides, which was just the right height to support the center section.2. Watch what size of pump you use. The specs says that you can use large pumps, but I bought the Aquascape Ultra 1000 because it has the three valves, which I needed. I got it in the unit with a lot of struggle, but it has to sit on its side because with the valves, it is too tall to sit upright. The pump will be fine sitting on its side, but just be cautious about the size of pump you buy.Overall, a good product.

The specifications list 1500 pounds and the product seems sturdy, however, it will cave in spots requiring a shim to make it level. However, I did make it work. Just be aware that this happens.

Fast solution for creating a water basin for your fountain. Yes, you can stand on the center of the basin cover without any deflection.Its holds about 25 gallons, has an easy access point to the pump in one corner, is drilled for a center hose up to the fountain and other hose holes can be drilled almost anywhere in the top.To install just place it on a firm 30"x30" level surface, ideally about 11" below the ground surface, place the hose, pump and fountain, cover the top with small rocks, fill and you are done.In winter I would recommend draining it and covering the fountain and basin with a waterproof tarp.

This is well designed, well made, and easy to install. It's really sturdy and holds a lot of weight. The access hole is well placed and easy to use. This size is working great for us. We live in the PNW and it's not overly hot here, so we only need to add water about 1 time weekly and then not that much. We're very pleased with this basin.

I bought this to replace an existing basin which I had for nearly 7 years. I searched for a replacement for a while and found this one. I was very happy when I received it and found it to be very sturdy. I have a fountain which weighs well over 100 pounds and the basin's construction handled the weight great. It is reenforced under the cover, has a convenient access port and the cover is designed to keep out leaves and debris. I have had it in the ground and running for a couple of weeks and so far, it has performed better than expected. Now I will see how it handles the temperature swings throughout the seasons.
