Looks great and works perfectly!
This was easy to assemble. Filled with Klean-Heat kerosene alternative and waited 45 minutes for the wick to saturate. Followed the lighting and pre-heat instructions, then turned up to full incandescence. In the photo, it is the only source of light (very bright for a lantern that does not require any type of pumping or pressure, and is safe indoors). It puts off a pretty good amount of heat, so don't let the top of the chimney site too close to anything, but that heat is nice on a cold night. There was absolutely no smell coming off of it while lit. I smelled just a small amount of kerosene smell after blowing it out, but that went away very quickly.

Out Last Owner
I have had one of these for years. As an area which experiences power outages these serve two purposes. One LIGHT. Really decent light. Second Heat! You can place these in a two sink bathroom with a shower and walk in tub. The heat alone warms an area this size while adding light. Just a good product. Would I buy again. Yep. Sent two for my daughter. They will know doubt out live me and be passed down for generations.

Finicky But amazing
If you are ignorant, or mad you’ll complain about having to buy Kerosene for a kerosene lamp. Really? Your Peon is showing. These lamps are expensive for three reasons. It’s extremely clean burning, completely vaporizes the fuel. So it’s essentially a green lamp (compared to the less expensive and dirty wet oil lamps)Low to no black soot.Little to No burnt kerosene smell.Lights very similar to the Colman lampsBut don’t need white gas or pumping. The cons. This lamp needs constant attention because of the mantle.Sure you can light a whole room, but a strong breeze will be bad. Causes a flame to shoot out the top.It gets super hotSo end of the world thing(No electric, no ac, and no kids or pets)8/10

Super bright light, some issues w mantles
The quality is not what it once was with Aladdin lamps. Bought two at same time. One burns as expected and one does not. Some research seems to indicate there are manufacturing tolerances that are not maintained in the burner component’s. Both lanterns seem to want to over burn which destroys the mantles. Both lamps need to be watched carefully to stop the runaway burn and overheating. Then we have the problem of not being able to buy replacement mantles as of October 2022. At $ 24.00 each the need to stock up on mantles make this lamp more of a hobby versus a tool which is what I hoped to have achieved in my power out arsenal.

Sure, it's a neat novelty item, but replacement mantles are $40 each
That's not a joke. There has been a mantle shortage for 20 years. You can buy a premium brand dual fuel lantern, plus a dozen mantles, plus a fuel can, plus ten gallons of fuel that also works in your lawn mower or car or whatever and still come out $100 ahead.
