This is a REAL review...I'm not getting paid, nor was I given a free or reduced-priced item. I decided to write this review, because there are so many fake reviews out there, and I wanted to share my actual experience....I will be doing this for all the items I buy on Amazon.This is the second identical Speck case that I have bought for my Samsung Galaxy Note 8. I really like this case, but it's not perfect.It is very easy to put the phone in, and take it out....but there is no risk of the case falling off. It fits well. It has ridges around it, which help when gripping it....it will not fall out of your hand with ordinary use. I can't vouch for a person's carefulness, however....it's up to the individual to hold onto the phone with some semblance of responsible behavior!I've dropped my phone a number of times, by accident....accidents do happen! The lip of the case has protected my phone. However, if you knock the phone directly on the front...such as, when holding the phone, and it knocks into something if you are moving your arm, for example....the case cannot protect the exposed screen, obviously. That is when you also need a good tempered-glass screen protector. I'll review mine elsewhere.But this case does offer a good bang for the buck, so to speak. It's not an Otterbox, but I really don't like carrying anything that bulky. If you don't need industrial-strength protection, this case is really pretty heavy-duty and will do the trick for most people.The reason it doesn't get 5 stars, is because the little ridges do start to wear down and start to tear off, if you use your phone a lot. Mine started to show wear after about a year.For under ten bucks, though....this really is a great little phone case!Pleas let me know if this review helped at all. That way, other people can read my various reviews, and know they are reading about items actually purchased and used by a typical person....not like those fake reviews that people write, just so they can receive free merchandise.I research everything I buy, so that I don't waste my money....it's unpleasant to find out that some of the info I read is phony. I purchased my first Speck phone case for my now previous phone which was the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I LOVED IT! It covered everything it needed to, and nothing it didn't. I dropped the Note 4 encased in a Speck case too many times to keep count. The only thing I could actually keep track of was the number of times I dropped that phone and I was able to point out any amount of of "damage" incurred on the Speck case; 3. Minimal amount of noticeable damage to the case. The rubber strips throughout the design of the case always allowed the perfect amount of tactile feel allowing for confident gripping and operation. I actually replaced the first Speck case on the Note 4. Reason for doing so, slightest of tear in the rubber facing of the case at the point of the micro USB power point on the phone. Was it necessary to replace? No. I only did so because I loved the case so much and I couldn't imagine how disappointed I would have been if for some reason I couldn't find the exact same case again for any reason. I found the exact Speck case on Amazon, less than $20, and had a brand new case on my already year old Note 4 in less than 2 days. I have recently upgraded to the Galaxy Note 8. Guess what case I had to have for it... I pre-ordered the Note 8 and the Speck case was not available for delivery until almost a month later. I purchased 2 different cases (neither of which were bad cases, just not up to par with the Speck) just to try something different and wait for the availability of the Speck Presidio Grip Case for the recently released Note 8. I paid 3 times what I did for the Speck cases that I fell in love with that had been protecting my previous Note 4, but I didn't hesitate for one second. Well worth it. I love the Note 8, but if I couldn't encase it in a Speck case, not sure I'd be as happy with the phone as a whole. If you were to ask me, I would tell you that I believe that this Speck Presidio Grip case is as much a part of the overall satisfaction with the phone as the phone itself. I just recently purchased Speck cases (5 total) for family and employees who have iPhone 6's. They were using a case that is named after an animal that was placed in a particular shaped container and they are SO grateful for the new Speck cases now covering their phones. My favorite phone case... EVER!

Perfect balance of grip and smoothness. This is my 3rd one on 3 phones. Other people in my family have different cases that are too bulky, slippery, etc

Received very quickly and overall a superb case option. I am braving it without a screen protector as it seems like pot luck in getting one that fits with a case or works well with the pen. I take the phone out the case regularly for drone use, and the rubber around the s-pen looks like it will not last long - but otherwise a sturdy and grippy case.

Nice feeling case and feels protective, 2 things for me stopped it being 5 stars, 1. The plastic material used feels a bit cheap, and 2. where your finger rests to support your phone underneath, if this was rubber like on the back it would be 100% more comfortable to hold, if they changed this it would of been 5 stars!
