Bought and enjoy FOUR; Easy to assemble; Well packed
Well built and easy to assemble. We bought four chairs and assembled them. One chair was missing one key screw, which was easily purchased at a hardware store (6mm pan head 65mm long). We plan to add seat cushions (for reference: the dimensions for cushions would be to fit the seat which is about 16" across the back and 19" across the front, and the seat is 18" deep). The casters were easy to insert to metal holes leading me to guess that prior problems noted in reviews were resolved with a redesign. I lined up and clicked in 5 casters in each of 4 chairs without any issues at all. It did take "about an hour each" to put together, but at least half the time was unboxing and unpackaging the parts. The chairs were labeled "made in Thailand," and the careful packing ensured that all chairs arrived undamaged. Nevertheless, unpacking and collapsing the packaging to recycle or dispose took a non-trivial amount of time. Assembling was very easy, the only tool needed was a supplied allen wrench. Even thought it was definitely not necessary - I used a little wood glue on the wooden caps (which cover the screw holes) to ensure they stay put, and I used a rubber mallet to tap them in. I could have done by hand. The chairs roll well on our hardwood floor, and they are comfortable, and the mechanism for swivel and tilt seems to be of very good quality (we've used for a week without issue). We are very impressed at the quality, even more so at this price.

great chair at a great price
I did what I hardly ever do with this item--I hit one-click order before reading the product reviews. I was nervous about the casters as many had written about them. The chair arrived ahead of the scheduled time and I was able to assemble it with minimal effort. (I used my drill with a hex bit to make it go faster. I did not have any problems with the casters, they were solid and fit well with a moderate aount of pressure applied. This chair looks great with my antique roll-top desk and I find it very comfortable (although I do not sit at it "all day" if I were using it in an work situation, however I do not think that it would cause me great pain if I were in it for long periods of time. There are some rough areas to the finish, however I chalk that up to being real wood and there's going to be some imperftions. Over all I am extremely pleased with this chair.

Nice chair but buyer beware
I have a small wooden desk that belonged to my great grandfather. I wanted a good, vintage style chair to match the period of the desk. This chair fits the bill well! The chair has a classic elegance. It is well designed, sturdy and stable. I'm an averaged sized guy and there is no danger of tipping. It was simple to put together. I had little trouble getting the casters in. It just takes a little positioning and pressure. There was no need to use a hammer or a lot of force, as some have said. It adjust up and down. You can lock it to prevent it from leaning back. However the back spring is firm so that I can lean back on it without it laying back. The chair presents firm support for your back, but you can rock back with some force from your legs if you want when it is not locked upright.I gave the chair 4 stars though it deserves 5, except for the customer service. The buyer should beware the poor customer service of Office Star Products of Ontario, Canada that supplies the chair! My chair was missing a small side brace. It took me a month of calls and multiple emails to get Office Star to send me the part. I talked to Pablo who said to just send an email and I would get the part in a week. Then a week later I got an email from Monica Castillo who asked me to fill out a form, send proof of purchase and a picture. I did that the same day. 8 and 16 days later I asked for an update. Finally 20 days later Monica let me know that now Rick Gardea had the process. After several emails, Rick sent me the part and it arrived today - a month later. At no time did Pablo, Monica or Rick apologize for the missing part, the hassle or the long wait - even when I commented to them that they had never apologized! ha ha It got funny after a while! You wonder what goes on in their minds, knowing I would eventually do a review. You would think that even if they don't really care that I had a bad experience, they would try to protect the image of the company. Oh well. However, I did get the part and it's a great chair for a good price. You probably won't have any problems, but if you do, be prepared for slow and ungrateful customer service.

Don’t bother
What a waste of money. I like hard chairs, I far prefer them over padded chairs, but this thing is a disaster.I’m 6’4” and wear a 36” pant inseam, yet the bottom was so long that it was pressing into my lower thighs and hurting — I had to trim an inch off of the front and round it with a router, which helped a lot, but shouldn’t have been necessary. I’ve never seen a chair with such a long base. The chair has an awkward tilt to the front and always feels a bit off kilter. I added some washers to try to compensate, but it still always feels a bit crooked no matter what I do. The hinge that allows it to rock back squeaks and makes a lot of noise. I lubricated it with a dry wax based lube, so it’s quieter, but now it makes metal against metal sliding noises instead. Now, a few months later the gas cylinder has started to fail and slowly slips down, down, down… I have to raise it back up every 1/2 hr or so.Oh, and the wheels were garbage, so I also upgraded those too… so, basically I’ve almost built my own chair now and it’s still not as good as just using one of the wooden chairs from the kitchen table.

Keeps lowering, and I'm not that heavy
after less than 2 years, the chair just keeps lowering. No understanding as to why. The wood structure is what I was looking for, the lowering is not.
