Western Digital Purple 4TB Surveillance 3.5 Inch SATA 6 Gb/s Hard Disk Drive with Allframe 4K Technology - 180TB/yr, 64MB Cache, 5400rpm - WD40PURZ

We purchased this hard drive to add another hard drive into our Dell PC. We record wildlife in our garden - 20 cameras recording 24/7 and were concerned our hard drive was getting a hammering! We ordered this drive, it arrived the next day as we are Prime Members, arrived in a plastic bag within the Amazon box. We followed a video on YouTube which advised how to install it and within a few minutes it was up and running. It’s now been installed for a month and we’ve not experienced any problems 🤞. It’s a great size at 4TB and is providing us with about 11 days of footage before it overwrites. When researching this hard drive, everyone on here said it needs to be installed on a CCTV system, but we can testify that you can install it on a PC to manage cameras that are constantly writing to a hard drive.

Does what it says on the tin- use it in my ANNKE CCTV system (Max size the system will take) works perfectly well but a bit noisy ? Had it fitted now for 5 months without any problems but time will tell regarding longevity !

Hard drive came ok, seems to work ok but vibrates like mad. I've also done the method of rubber washers but even they cannot dampen the horrific droning. Most likely just bad luck as WD have always been very good with the various types i have worked with and indeed own, even had an ever so slight vibration from a red but rubber washers sorted that out. This however can be very much heard no matter what i tried and at distance. Will be trying for another though and hopefully rhis was just a one off. Just to add, the packaging is very bad as per someone else's photos of being wraped in a little bubble wrap bag then fairly loose in a small box then little packaging around that into a larger box. Every hard drive I've ever had from other sellers etc. Have the hard drive in a small box with foam inside then the rest of the packaging.

Item was easy to install and was working well, unfortunately it failed a few weeks in. I guess it’s just one of those things that sometimes happen.

Drive is definately new, but manufactured in 2019.

Extremely quiet drive, and fast for searching. Well worth the money for a 4 camera surveillance in hd, with a low quality side stream as well, currently getting about 3 to nearly 4 weeks continuous 24/7 recording.

Currently using it in my cctv system and have no issue with at all runs very quiet doesn't get very hot is doing its job you will need your own fixing screws as this is a oem product but if you are into pcs then you will have these if not then you can get them from Amazon without too much trouble

Utilizo este tipo de discos duros par mi NAS, es de la seria de Surveillance de Western Digital WD, los cuales están diseñados para equipos de grabación de cámaras de seguridad. Esto significa que están hechos para trabajar las 24 horas del día, por lo tanto la vida útil de estos discos duros son mas larga que los otros normales. También hay la serie roja de WD que estan hechos especificamente para los NAS, pero estos de la serie lila son más baratos y hacen lo mismo que los rojos. La única pega que le doy es que podrían ser un poquito mas rápidos, 7200 rpm, pero supongo que después subiría mas el precio. También es ideal para montarlo en el pc como disco de respaldo, no para guardar los juegos, para eso utiliza un SSD por ejemplo. Compra estos y no tendrás que cambiar de disco duro frecuentemente, no te decepcionaran No te defrauran

It was easy to install in my security system DVR. It maintained all the memory and has been working great for several months now. Highly recommend this brand for security systems. I get about 3 week of data on 6 camera's recording 24/7, before it overwrites.

je viens de l'acheté ...5 jours et il est à la maison, avec un emballage au top... disque scotcher sur une petit carton de son volume ferme à l’intérieure d'un gros carton remplie de papier épais ...pour les gens comme moi qui aimes les disque dur comme des autres gens aimes les animaux.. vraiment je suis ravie... car emballage au top c-d-a longévité possible ...après disque très silencieux 3,62 To c'est pour çà que je mets 4 étoile mais je sais on calcul en 10 puissance et non pas à 2 puissance... disque qui ne chauffe vraiment pas ... en plus de sa compatibilité pour des heure et des heure de sauvegarde de camera ...alors je dit présent... copie des grand fichier (Film 1080p) :-) pour une vitesse stable à 120 mo/s avec des pique à 131 mo /s... moi je l'ai choisie pour de la sauvegarde après plusieurs crache de disque externe je revient pour de bon vers le format 3,5 pouce et WD comme garantie et la couleur violet pour la longévité ..à bon entendeur '' les disques à 5400 t/mn vivent beaucoup plus longtemps que ceux à 7200 voir 10000 t/mn''
